I don't know though how I feel about her getting kicked out of the university. So what now, she can flip burgers if no other school lets her in?

Many justice systems are only focused on vengeance, and not on rehabilitation. It would have been infinitely better if the university had made her do community service in poor black areas of the city/state so she could learn some humanity. And since she cares about water wastage, she could have seen the effects of that too in areas with low water pressure or even in communities where is no plumbing in the US.

Instead of possibly reforming her and making a better person out of her, the university has all but guaranteed now that she will spread her hatred and even pass it on to her future children.

(BTW, just to be clear, I didn't put this ITT because I think that her getting kicked out is FU -- no, what's FU is her rant and her vileness.)

The OU boys were in a much worse position, because they were openly admitting that they were discriminating against blacks in their recruiting process. That discrimination is against federal law, which would give administrators tons of leeway to kick them out.
In this case, the girl is just saying she's racist, which isn't against the law. Speech codes, which is what the university will ultimately fall back on, have largely been held unConstitutional for public colleges. They will be in an even weaker position, because she didn't make her statements in a university forum of any kind. Public schools simply are not allowed to regulate their students' off-campus speech without a damned good reason, and "racial slurs are bad" isn't going to cut it. She'll get paid, and at least reinstated. It's an open and shut case. She'll probably end up dropping out from the ostracism, but that's her own doing, and she will do so with at least a little money in her pockets.

I expect she will get paid, but not im not sure on a six month timetable for filing the lawsuit. If and when attorneys get involved, they'll try to keep it out of court until they have no other option.pr, they might play hardball from the beginning and just file it. No way to know.

Looking further at the ou case, even the ACLU is saying their speech was protected. The university president said that he expelled them for their speech, which was stupid, but I'm betting they retreated to discrimination under title 6. They probably looked at the frat's membership rolls and saw there had never been a black member, and said "we'll bring this up on court, and no jury will ever support you on it." Looks like they retained an attorney, and he must have told them the same thing. Expressing discriminatory intent just isn't going to fly well, even if the aclu has your back (he ACLU said the member's 1A rights were violated)
