So yeah the brand new server I joined last week is now full, I had to wait in line last night. Also, the first person hit 60 yesterday on the server. I hit 21, whoopee, hehe. Had a nice discussion in barrens chat though about how State sucks this year.

haha. there is a 9 page thread in tech support on worldofwarcraft.com with people having the same problem and not a single "blue" has responded. The problem is with the servers blizzard hosts on the ATT lines not with the client due to blizzards latest POS patch. Guess i've just got to cancel.

what tech support? they are well aware of this problem. I've emailed them along with at least a dozen others with the exact same problem and they don't respond. Its like they are aware of it but couldn't be bothered. I mean whats $15/month x 50 to them anyway? not even the lint in their pocket if that.

finally got my ony key tonight. thank God for a huge ass guild where everyone is friendly, b/c I wouldn't dream of trying to get a grp up for Test of Skulls w/o paying a good amount of gold.

Also had my first run in MC tonight, and I had no idea that everything there was so friggin hard. I guess I thought that 40 ppl could handle just about anything, but damn the bosses there are friggin tough. Good times however.

Wow. Sold plans for a Robe of the Archmage this evening for 300g. And those were just the plans. What the hell? How much does the robe itself sell for?

^^I am pretty sure that Robes of the Archmage are BoP, meaning that only the tailor themself can wear it. Robes of the Void and the priest version are the same way I think.

So, in other words, that price IS the price for the robe since they can't get it any other way.

question;

k, i have an idea for $$$ making for rogues and druids

what about instances with lvl 35-45 elite bosses. are they not soloable? do they not reset every 30 mins? you can just stealth to the valuable bosses.

i think SM for example has like 10 blue drops for toughest side -- why not just keep farming for blues then disenchant or sell or whatever?

you can solo all that. i mean... i read that someone with epic gear can solo lvl 60 bosses like incendius, the drops would have to be lucrative?

anyone do/try this?

That is bar none the worst tradeskill economic screwin' I have seen yet. So the tailor spends 300g to get the plans, then they spend whatever obscene amount the materials cost (or they farm for a month), and finally they can't even resell what they make? That just doesn't even seem fair.

Another great example is the Whitesoul Helm. I flat out LOVE this piece of plate armor, however, I've seen the plans for it go for 300g. I bought one this past week for only 30g. That's astounding to me. Just the Enchanted Thorium and Azerothian Diamonds required to build this helmet sell for a LOT more than 30g (at least on Doomhammer). Crafting high level tradeskill items just doesn't seem remotely profitable to me... or am I missing something?

whats the difference between that^ and paying a huge amount for that random epic drop that someone is selling at the AH?

on a side note, i am doing alchemy and if i want to make some of the 300 lvl flasks i have to get an insane amount of materials and get a raid group together so i can go to scholo and use the alchemy bench there.

it all balances out

My druid picked up the Stormrage bracers this weekend. Thats my third piece of stormrage. -150 mana to all shapeshifting is awesome.

I can't decide whether to get + 4 mana / 5 sec regen, + 7 int, + 9 stam, or +22 healing though.

Warcraft game maker in spying row

Game maker Blizzard has been accused of spying on the four million players of World of Warcraft.

Net activists branded software used to spot cheats "spyware" because it gathers information about the other programs running on players' PCs.

In its defence Blizzard said nothing was done with the information gathered by the anti-cheat software.

And many players seem happy to have the software running if it cuts the amount of cheating in the game world.

Home invasion

The watchdog program, called The Warden by Blizzard, has been known about among players for some time.

It makes sure that players are not using cheat software which can, for example, automatically play the game and build up a character's qualities.

However, knowledge of it crossed to the mainstream thanks to software engineer Greg Hoglund who disassembled the code of The Warden and watched it in action to get a better idea of what it did.

Screenshot of stone giant from World of Warcraft, Blizzard
Warcraft players back Blizzard's anti-cheat system
He found that it performed a quick analysis on other programs running on a PC to see if their characteristics match known cheating programs.

But Mr Hoglund found that The Warden also scans the text in the title bars of any Window for any other program.

Writing in his blog about what he found Mr Hoglund said: "I watched The Warden sniff down the e-mail addresses of people I was communicating with on MSN, the URL of several websites that I had open at the time, and the names of all my running programs."

Mr Hoglund noted that the text strings in title bars could easily contain credit card details or social security numbers.

Digital rights group The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) branded The Warden "spyware" and said its use constituted "a massive invasion of privacy".

The EFF said that it was not acceptable simply to take Blizzard's word that it did nothing with the information it gathered. It added that the Blizzard could get away with using The Warden because information about it was buried in licence agreements that few people read.

Fair play

Blizzard took to the forums on the central community site for World of Warcraft to defend itself and correct what it saw as "misinformation" about its actions.

It said that The Warden did not gather any personally identifiable information about players only data about the account being used. It also re-iterated that the only thing done with data gathered was to look for evidence of hack or cheat programs.

For their part many gamers seem happy to tolerate The Warden even though they acknowledged that it eroded their privacy to an extent.

Jason Justice, speaking on behalf of members of the Low Red Moon guild, said many in its ranks supported the programs used by Blizzard if it kept the cheats out of the game.

Pack shot from Diablo II, Blizzard
Cheats spoiled the online version of Diablo II
"The concern most have is that the program has the capability to read text from open programs, potentially compromising the privacy of some sensitive programs."

"If someone is afraid of the program reading sensitive information from their programs, one possible solution is simply to not run any additional programs while playing World of Warcraft," he said, "which is certainly advisable from a performance standpoint to begin with."

He told the BBC News website: "It is entirely Blizzard's responsibility to protect their intellectual property and the fairness of the game experience, and if they have code sophisticated enough to detect when a cheater is running illegal programs on their computer, they're doing a right good job of it."

Paul Younger, one of the administrators on WoW community site worldofwar.net, said: "With cheating being a real concern to Blizzard I feel they have few options other than to check what people are running on their machines."

"Blizzard have learnt since Diablo II that cheating can seriously hamper the enjoyment of a game," he said.

Warcraft players debating the issue on the worldofwar.net forums seemed happy to have The Warden keeping an eye on what they are doing. Many said they trusted Blizzard not to exploit the information being gathered.

Some pointed out that it would be hard for Blizzard to gather more useful information than they already have given that most use a credit card to pay the monthly fee to keep playing the game.

For those worried by what The Warden does, Mr Hoglund has produced a program called The Governor that reports on what it is watching.

my notes

they already have our credit cards. i guess this proves now that they have everything. greaaaaaaaaaat.

What would be nice is if blizzard expanded that "dressing room" feature to show how your stats would look wearing whatever piece you're looking at. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to implement....

+1% crit does not apply to spells, it only applies to melee damage. there is a +1% crit with spells which is a completely seperate stat.

the inventor's focal sword, azuresong mageblade, stoneflower staff has 1% crit to spells which is what you are looking for

krol blade, dal'rends sacred charge, brutality blade all have 1% crit for melee

notice the spell crit specifically says improves your chance to get a critical strike with spells by 1%.

depending on what class you are +30int is a different amount of mana, though it's a lot regardless of which class you are. i'm assuming you are a druid because of the +nature damage. the easiest way to figure out how much int is how much mana is to take a certain piece off, write down your mana, put it back on and take the difference and divide it by the int on the item (ie, fakehelm +18int 3870 mana, take off 3825 mana, 3870-3825 = 45 / 18 = 2.5 mana/int).
