The left absolutely lost because of the Affordable Care Act (it's actual name, by the way). Because the Affordable Care Act has not been implemented fully. Which is the result of GOP obstructionism.

GOP obstructs. People think the bill is an utter failure. They vote accordingly.

It's how our system works. Obstruct the shit you hate and then when your obstruction causes it to fail, blame the people that came up with it.

It'd be like if you prevented me from putting the fire at your house out by holding me back at gunpoint and then people voted to get rid of the Fire Department for being unable to put fires out.

that's standard practice for the GOP: work hard to defund and destroy something then after you turn it into shit use that as evidence for why it needs to be removed entirely

republicans have no credibility because they continually show that they are not able to govern, they can only be obstructionists, and republican voters have no credibility because they continually show they don't care that their party can't govern

The only thing I might change about your otherwise spot-on statement is this:

Quote :
"and republican voters have no credibility because they continually show they don't care that their party can't govern"

They don't think their party can't govern, they think they're being prevented from governing because of liberal policies.

Thats why what you guys call "purity" is important for democrats. They had complete control and could have changed the rules to legislate things into law that could not be "obstructed". Instead, they decided to compromise and work with insurance companies and republicans because they didn't want to take the risk of making a drastic change on their own.

THEY DO THIS ON EVERY ISSUE

Finally, a MSM article that acknowledges how Trump is hypnotizing the entire country with his antics. Its obvious that Trump has a formula for persuasion and manipulation and its also obvious that it wouldn't work if you (the target) knew he was trying and didn't just assume it was him being "a baby" or "impulsive".

Its only genius because it still works. He knows how to put just the right balance of crazy to get your attention and still internalize what is being said.

^^ that's scott adams tripe he's been pushing for a year. He moves the goal posts whenever one of his predictions fail.

He predicted Trump would be popular (literally the most unpopular president in recorded history), he predicted he'd be a master at international relations, he predicted he'd be able to "make deals" to pass legislation, he predicted trump would be very pro gay rights and was just "matching and pacing" or something.

Adams is a hack.

Also let's not forget that News Corp. owns the WSJ along with Fox News and they have been aggressively pushing their pro Trump nonsense (emphasis on the word nonsense) for the past two months now.

Is it? His support at record low levels, he’s gotten no major policy agenda and has failed miserably whenever trying to “make a deal” with Congress and members of his own party are basically questioning his mental fitness.

He does have a few wins but a Republican monkey could have gotten a list of justices from Heritage and got them confirmed through cloture.

Trump is on a Twitter rampage calling for the death penalty immediately.

Last time someone drove through a crowd causing death and mayhem he said we needed more facts.

I wonder what the difference could be...

I see you arestill hanging on to approval rating polls that have no impact on elections.

Not getting anything done is being blamed on congress who has even lower approval that predates trump. hes setting them up so bannon can clean house in 2018. thats a win.

your definitions of wins are not the same. i think you are still talking about what is a win for the country and not a personal win for trunp. nfl, espn, urma, and harvey were all monumental wins for trump.

^Approval rating will roughly be reflected in the polls once there's someone to run against.

A democratic president could blame not getting things done on a republican congress. A republican president cannot.

Low approval of a president has just about always turned into the other party taking over the majority in the midterms.

I don't know what "urma" is but Hurricane Irma didn't change anyone's mind. People who hate him hated him more, people who liked him liked him the same (except white supremacists who constantly have more reason to like him more). Irma hurt him with Hispanic voters, but they already have enough reasons not to vote for him again.

Where have you been? The Republican party is not united and this president has been at war with Republican senators. He's certainly been publicly blaming Mcconnel for not getting things done and guys like Mccain, corker, and Flake have been back and forth with him. Those are just the public battles. This president was never really a Republican insider and went to war with the party before being nominated. He essentially hijacked the party. He is and will blame them.

Quote :
"Low approval of a president has just about always turned into the other party taking over the majority in the midterms."

Well this is not just about always. This is a unique situation and the Republican establishment is on life support with or without Trump. If the Democrats take the midterms, that only sets Trump up to be able to blame them in 2020 which actually plays right into his strategy.

Quote :
"Irma hurt him with Hispanic voters, but they already have enough reasons not to vote for him again."

I don't know anyone who disapproved of his Irma response so I'm going to assume you are talking about Maria. Either way the point I'm going to make applies. Democrats continue to belittle entire groups of voters (blacks and hispanics mostly) by putting them into one box. It might be true about the majority but there are so many hispanic groups that this type of statement becomes ultra-offensive and democrats remain tone-deaf to it. For example, Cubans hate being considered the same as PR or Mexicans and when a conservative Cuban who hates socialism is belittled by a democrat, it pushes them into Trumps arms, even if they hate Trump. This is racism and its effect was probably enough to make the difference in the election and definitely enough to make the difference in Florida.

Just another example of the party being so elite and out of touch that they can't even recognize the things that cost them the election.

So he’s really gonna force his DOJ to go after Clinton again? Deflection is a hallmark of his. Given the massive deflection and gaslighting happening recently Ive actually moved more to the camp that Trump himself actively colluded with Russia and he knows it’s coming.

It wasn’t in 2012 either IIRC. Obama had no chance to get re-elected if we used traditional macro predictors on the run-up. I do remember that late good jobs report from October that did help him but I remember our policy research firms all saying he would win but the macro predictors didn’t support it.

HCH on Obama's unemployment numbers:

Quote :
"And before anyone argues that the unemployment rate dropped, so everything is peaches:

Why did unemployment rate drop: Not for good reasons. More Americans stopped looking for work and fell out of the workforce. That means they aren't counted in the labor force and that brings down the jobless rate."

Quote :
"Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn't looking into all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems new Donna B book says she paid for and stole the Dem Primary. What about the deleted E-mails, Uranium, Podesta, the Server, plus, plus people are angry. At some point the Justice Department, and the FBI, must do what is right and proper. The American public deserves it!

The real story on Collusion is in Donna B's new book. Crooked Hillary bought the DNC & then stole the Democratic Primary from Crazy Bernie!

Pocahontas just stated that the Democrats, lead by the legendary Crooked Hillary Clinton, rigged the Primaries! Lets go FBI & Justice Dept.

ISIS just claimed the Degenerate Animal who killed, and so badly wounded, the wonderful people on the West Side, was "their soldier." Based on that, the Military has hit ISIS "much harder" over the last two days. They will pay a big price for every attack on us!

I always felt I would be running and winning against Bernie Sanders, not Crooked H, without cheating, I was right.

Bernie Sanders supporters have every right to be apoplectic of the complete theft of the Dem primary by Crooked Hillary!"

I support our country. If the economy is growing and unemployment is declining, that's not a bad thing, regardless of which party is in power.

My post wasn't meant to be supportive of Trump, in fact the opposite. Our economy is doing great, yet his poll numbers are at record lows. So it seems as if the old mantra of only the economy being important for reelection may not be true any more (as NyM410) pointed out.

^^^This board is always in need of Obama criticism. You all hold him up as a religious savior.

DoJ says not true and actually AT&T offered to sell CNN but DoJ rejected it.

AT&T CEO says that is a complete lie and he never offered and has no intention of selling CNN.

This is a marathon trip. We're talking about a 71 year old. I hate when I get off a transpacific flight with a full day ahead of me. It feels like a zombie and I would rather just sleep for an entire day when I get off the plane. This man got off the plane in Japan and immediately did EVERYTHING and started meeting tons of people. Then flew to Korea and did the same thing then flew to china and did the same thing and now is flying to vietnam for a conference. Any of those events would exhaust the crap out of a young person and he is doing them all back to back. Trump is not used to working like this. He needs a golf break.

I would hate being president.
