I mean, it was obviously a planned stunt. One that likely cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands in transportation and security costs. Party of fiscal responsibility!

That seems to violate political ethics rules doesn’t it?

If the primary purpose was a political stunt designed to bolster support for the campaign/party?

Lol, they told the pool reporters to stay in the van because Pence would probably leave the game early.

The scary thing about the daycare letter is that shrike thinks it's real.

It's certainly a possibility the letter isn't real. What's your argument that it's not?

The letter itself is definitely real, as in it was an actual thing that was sent to the daycare. Whether it was written by an actual parent who sends their kid there or just some random racist troll is debatable.

As much as certain right wingers like to talk about "virtue signalling" I've never seen a more blatant and expensive example than Pence's staged outrage.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/08/us/politics/trump-corker.html

Quote :
"enator Bob Corker, the Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, charged in an interview on Sunday that President Trump was treating his office like “a reality show,” with reckless threats toward other countries that could set the nation “on the path to World War III.”

In an extraordinary rebuke of a president of his own party, Mr. Corker said he was alarmed about a president who acts “like he’s doing ‘The Apprentice’ or something.”

“He concerns me,” Mr. Corker added. “He would have to concern anyone who cares about our nation....

...It began on Sunday morning when Mr. Trump, posting on Twitter, accused Mr. Corker of deciding not to run for re-election because he “didn’t have the guts.” Mr. Corker shot back in his own tweet: “It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.””"

It was likely written by someone at the daycare for attention.

I wholeheartedly agree with Bob Corker.

The White House and the Panthers suffer from the same problem. Their stars don't listen to their handlers very well.

when has Cam not listened to his handlers and when has this administration offered an apology in the same universe as Cam’s last week?

Sure his handlers rushed in and polished things up with that apology of his, but that initial comment? He's obviously not listening to someone.

And when did I ever say anything about Trump being apologetic. Fuck man, I can't even criticize the president correctly according to your rules.

how did they polish a non-scripted apology that was obviously from him?

you compared the Panthers to the White House. that is a very, very dumb comparison.

You honestly think Cam Newton still doesn't have people doing his homework?

And is it really that dumb of a comparison? I mean sure the Panthers as a unit are probably run much better than the current WH, but they have similar problems.

How is the WH comparison to a daycare any less dumb?

no, they aren’t similar in any way whatsoever

and they have to take his goddamn phone from him to time to time to keep him from posting even more insane shit on twitter, much like a daycare worker taking a kids toy away if they’re acting up

also, what homework?

^^^ because it was made by a senator, that’s a conservative republican, that is known to be a friend of trump, that has golfed with him a few times.

There couldn’t be a more credible person to make that claim.

And it’s not like the statement is a mystery— the left has been trying to point this out for 2 years now.

The question, and it’s an existential one, is what are we going to do about it? We have a crazy person at the helm.

Looks like Trump has won the NFL debate. I wish the players had a little more backbone because they could easily take the franchise hostage by kneeling and making Jones bench them.

a rule change that would be put into the rulebook would have to go through the players association

that game day operations manual is essentially a list of suggestions

Lol "essentially"

When there can be penalties enforced, they are not suggestions.

But fun semantics game with a rule vs a policy tho. Good times!!!

do you agree that the words “should” and “must” are different words with different meanings?

the actual discussion about making this an enforceable rule in the actual rulebook will take place during league meetings next week

Until a penalty actually has been enforced then it isn't a real rule.

It says players should stand. It doesn't say they must stand. That kind of language matters.

Sounds like the punishment clause of said policy is new, and maybe they haven't decided on enforcement yet. Maybe they'll scrap it in favor of an actual rule. We'll see. Either way if it was a just a suggestion they wouldn't have added punishments...unless you guys are arguing they don't have the legal capacity to enforce those punishments.

The NFL fights for it's players to keep playing after being accused of rape and murder. No way will they punish players accused of disrespecting the flag, especially since that's not what they're doing.

What seems really threatening is the new normal that's been set by all of the Republican members of Congress who have essentially condoned this type of behavior through their own silence.

Eminem's cypher is not much more than a Trump ad. I thought it was awesome and so did all of the other people who didn't vote for Trump. These celebs still don't get it. Trump feeds off of your attention. Mocking his voters and calling him names is already why he is the president in the first place. Keep helping him.
