And further, why should ANY Dem think they won’t show the same bad faith in March when DACA expires?

It's called a filibuster. They would need 60 votes.

CHIP funding is included in the bill.

The first offer from the GOP included a DREAM amnesty. Schumer rejected it. Who is showing the bad faith?

regarding CHIP nonsense:
http://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/senate-101-chris-hayes-bernie-sanders-blow-up-gop-chip-lie-1140326979857
if Mitch McConnell had brought up the CHIP program 3 months ago, he would have gotten 90 votes on the floor of the Senate, maybe 100

Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin negotiated a bipartisan immigration deal that would have passed both houses with wide margins. They presented this deal to Trump in a meeting and were met with the "shithole" comment. That's why we're where we're at right now. Blaming this on anyone but Trump and the GOP is completely disingenuous.

^^^We wont ever know. Schumer objected to the unanimous consent vote last night. If there is an indication that the GOP doesn't have 51 votes (which may very well be the case), why wouldn't Schumer agree to the vote last night and when the bill doesn't get 51 votes, it would all be on the republicans?

Now it just looks like Dems arent voting for it because of an unrelated policy demand, which sounds oh so familiar.

Man how does that pill taste. The GOP has literally spent the last 4+ years stopping everything from being done, and now they can’t believe that Dems might do the same. It’s called compromise dicks.

"Sen. Lindsey Graham is blaming President Donald Trump’s staff for the president’s about-face on immigration that appeared to scuttle a compromise deal to protect from deportation young people brought to the U.S. as children and living here illegally.

In a hearing Tuesday, Graham said Trump had reversed course, expressing openness on an immigration deal early last Thursday, only to reject it hours later.

Graham says, “I think somebody on his staff gave him really bad advice between 10 o’clock to 12 o’clock on Thursday.”

The South Carolina Republican says White House chief of staff John Kelly is “a fine man, but he’s part of the staff.”"

I wonder what Chuck Shumer would think of that?
Quote :
"We believe strongly in immigration reform. We could say, 'we're shutting down the government, we're not gonna raise the debt ceiling, until you pass immigration reform.' It would be governmental chaos."
Oh look, the guy shutting down the government due to immigration reform said he would never shut down the government for immigration reform.

Hows that pill taste?

one of those things is a debt ceiling (money already spent) and the other is a budget and some serious immigration stuff that already had a bipartisan agreement in place

what's the spin machine say to make those things remotely comparable?

Here comes the latest insanity from the Government Of Putin: https://www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost/gop-memo-on-surveillance-abuse-seeks-to-discredit-the-trump-russia-dossier/2018/01/19/7b4babbc-fd3f-11e7-a46b-a3614530bd87_story.html?utm_term=.5b5d0af8387a

"One of the document’s talking points suggests that the government’s application for a wiretap order on Page includes a reference to Steele assuring the FBI he did not speak to reporters about the allegations of collusion between Trump associates and Russia — although Steele later acknowledged in a separate lawsuit that he had talked to reporters before the 2016 election, said the individuals familiar with the document.

Current and former law enforcement officials have said the surveillance application relied on far more information than just Steele’s research."

Quote :
"The hashtag #ReleaseTheMemo trended shortly after Meadows and other House conservatives tweeted it.

According to the website Hamilton 68, which tracks Russian-linked Twitter accounts, #ReleaseTheMemo was the top hashtag being promoted Thursday and Friday by such accounts. And WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy group, offered $1 million in bitcoin to anyone who would share the memo, and directed people to a web address. That URL was the most shared among the Russian-linked accounts, according to Hamilton 68.

“Not surprisingly, the GOP campaign to attack the FBI has been joined by the same forces that made common cause during the Trump campaign — WikiLeaks, Julian Assange and a multitude of online Russian bots are now involved in promoting this effort,” the intelligence committee’s Democratic members said in a statement Friday."

I just don't understand how the media, the average Joe, etc arent hair on fire about this. It's insanely creepy how coordinated it feels sometimes. How is this not career-ending for "patriotic, law-and-order, cop/military cheerleader" republicans?

So, if the reports on what Schumer was willing to concede to Trump two things. 1) Schumer gave WAY WAY too much; and 2) Trump had no plans to make a deal, the Wall doesn’t matter to him and he WANTED a shutdown. I hope, but don’t believe, that America is smart enough to see through this.

The GOP is a fantastic opposition party but has no interest in governing (which I suppose is ideologically consistent).

They already managed this to make the base + some believe Schumer did this over allowing illegals to come into our country and I think this whole thing just hurts the Dems. Dems don’t seem to understand the psychology of the masses right now. They always seem to look reactive... Schumer Shutdown was brilliant in its simplicity then the Dems are like “no #trump shutdown!” But it’s already too late. Illiteration so basic but effective.

The Dems need to hire a ton of the best 18-22 year old Reddit trolls and meme makers. The Reps are such easy targets right now failing all over with more control of the government than any party in forever yet they can’t put out any effective messaging, ideas, or people that simply connect with anyone. At this rate they will lose midterm seats. They just don’t manipulate the media and people in general effectively. Educated 20-30 year olds see through it but they don’t vote and the rest eat it up.

I’m sure she drove down to DC to tell Ted Nugent to stay out of politics while flipping off the Clinton portrait.

Anyway, in important news, the GOP should vote today I think to release Nunes’ memo. The Post and Times are strongly hinting it’s a hit job meant to take aim at the one guy who can fire Mueller, Trump appointed DAG Rod Rosenstein.

Interesting. I’m really concerned the direction this is headed with the rhetoric on the Sunday circuit yesterday as well.

i've seen a few comments that say that he is taking his retirement a little early to not allow himself to become a political football

i don't think that will work, but maybe that logic makes sense. i bet he knew he had the vacation saved up and just didn't want to deal with the morons.

also i'm not convinced this is about the memo, if they wanted to release the memo can't nunes just read it into the record or trump declassify it?

Gowdy timeline:

-In general, a team trump cock gobbler
-allegedly writes Nunes memo for Nunes
-talks up the Nunes memo (gon' be bigger than watergate!!!!!!!!!!!')
-shortly after memo release, openly says it changes nothing about the Russian probe, and instead is just narrow questions about the FISA process (giant backpedal).
-announces he won't run again for congress (for bullshit reasons IMO)
-and now wants to investigate over this Porter business.

That's a pretty hard tack right after the memo was released (and seems to be continuing?). Very strange indeed.
