y'all she wants the top because of what it is called!!! i think we are all missing the point. it isn't about the style or the brand - it is called joie frances and perhaps that is worth $138 to her!

besides i think it is pretty clear she has already made up her mind haha

i have to admit, it is pretty cool to find a shirt style that is your name - esp when it is a unique name.

if it were me personally i'd not purchase it at $138...but if it was like $50 - $70(still $texas for a shirt like that) i'd be having a debate over purchasing as well haha (again, because of the name thing).

yea well...that seems a little more cray cray. jackie seems like a common name

so is katherine. but if it were my last name i'd definitely find it interesting/debate over it. unless i was in wales. in which case it'd be like finding something called "smith." and unimpressive. haha

buying them cause they're awesome is one thing. buying them cause they have your name, that's something else

not missing the point at all. i don't care if a shirt is called "meg" if it's ugly. i'm not going to wear it and i'm certainly not going to spend $138 on it. i wouldn't spend $38 on it.

its not cute TO YOU

and people have their "things" ya know?

like I could scoff at you buying shit for climbing and paying money for that, but I won't because that's your thing...I don't get it, but it's not my place to understand

Just saying...

everyone is saying "you can get a cheaper version at target"

is the one at target called joie frances? i'm guessing no. there is the point i took from it.

joie frances shirt. the real joie frances wants the shirt because she thinks it is neat that it is called joie frances.

end of point? to her it is worth it and she said she'd wear it so..the end?! haha. i'm not articulating well but in my mind i understand, even if i myself would not do it.

pretty sure she wanted an opinion on the purchase not if you thought it was ugly...she already said she would wear it a lot even though its not her normal style meaning she likes the shirt

so I don't think our opinions were needed to sway her on if it's pretty or not

i dunno to me the issue was more one of justifying purchasing an expensive item of clothing because it had her name. like, should i make this impulse buy

not about the shirt itself (cue comments about finding a cheaper one elsewhere...that would defeat the purpose...she wants the shirt because it is HER NAME)

i don't know. maybe iiiii missed the point hahhaha

also i have to stop wasting time discussing this...it is ridiculous hahahahaha. omg. i am being so ridic. need to get to work! i am using tww as a method of procrastination once again. i feel like i'm hitting rock bottom discussing a shirt. i need some mega anti procrastination counseling lol

my opinion was that she should not purchase it and i gave a reason why. i'm pretty sure joie is reasonable and doesn't expect everyone to oooh and aaah over everything she likes. i certainly don't, mostly because i have the worst fucking sense of what is in style. just the other day i told kat i didn't like a shirt she was asking for opinions on when considering buying, and i'm pretty sure she bought it anyway and didn't flinch over my opinion.

Their bras suck, but their panties, swimwear and sleepwear rock!

Cheekies are the best ever. Out of curiosity, do y'all tend to prefer bikinis, thongs, cheekies or grannies?

I don't but I know people that like to.

A lot of ladies that bought them from me found it hard to get over the fact that you could use them as underwear as well.

I double spanx it up tho

I agree! I think the spandex starts to give after 3 hours or so. Though I have heard of people getting nerve damage from Spanx.

http://news.consumerreports.org/health/2011/03/the-dangers-of-teens-in-spanx.html

But I'd imagine if you're only wearing them for special occasions, there's not much harm.

and yea, i did. and NO you don't have the worst style. we just have different styles. ain't nothin wrong with that

i have never worn spanx. what do y'all wear them with? like tight fitting dresses? are they for smoothing fat rolls?

lol.

im am super glad for everyones opinion.

and chances are- i will get the shirt...even though i am pretty broke
but the fact remains- i able to buy a coke every day, fast food every now and then, gas to get to a bar to buy a beer, the price of a beer, etc etc....that adds up quick

the fact is...we all have our price
and we will all buy things depending on the circumstance

if there were a shirt called the "kelsey elise" i would buy it for cody's sis
"......................................." " cody clark" i'd get it for my boo
"......................................." "carla sue" etc etc

i think i was more asking for forgiveness than permission hahaha (if that makes any sense)

when it comes down to it, 138$ is a lot but affordable (in my head at least )

[Edited on May 22, 2011 at 10:56 PM. Reason : it won't take too too much to offset the cost....and i'm really, really, REALLY good at that ]

spanx are mostly for preventing underwear lines but some of them have some "smoothing" effect. I guess the slips and stuff are better but i've never tried them, just the power panties and the high waisted whatever whatever. they're really expensive, but delicate and stretch out and if you want a true girdle, a better one can be had for the price.

[Edited on May 22, 2011 at 10:52 PM. Reason : and the camisole. I liked it alot but was $50... ouch]

I forgot to respond to that yesterday. I think it's mostly a poor idea since one of the main functions of spanx is to "erase" pantylines by replacing them, and underwear is just adding more bulk. to be indelicate, the spanx material is pretty breathable but underwear beneath it could cause moisture to build up. some of the spanx have open crotches, so if that terrifies you and you need to be covered, I understand. but you're going to have pantylines!

i'm anemic too. i take b12 and iron. you can just buy them at the store. :/

what type of anemia did you have? i have iron and vitamin deficient. i take the supplements and try to make sure i eat foods rich in iron (lots of spinach!!). but actually, i'm still anemic - i bruise super easily and am always fatigued so i am making an appt to get my shit checked again. which is perrrrrfect because it isn't covered by my insurance anemia fail.

I'm anemic too ... part of why I decided to start taking prenatal vitamins. My bruising has been awful lately. Mysterious bruises pop up daily.

And just two weeks ago I had fingerprint bruises on my butt from my bf squeezing me a bit too hard. But it didn't hurt at the time ... I'm just bruising very easily these days.

I just buy a good quality regular multi. Not the grocery store kind, one you get from a supplement specific place or website. Makes a big difference.
