I saw them in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago, they put on a hell of a show. I have heard bad things about there shows from some people and I definitely did not see what they were talking about...played 4 encores, came out into the fans and sang out there, the lights and video show was good. I would def see them again

Four encores is bullshit. If you want to play seven more songs, just fucking do it.

Encores used to be special.

I'm not gonna complain w/ 4 extra songs.

GG on the Phoenix show...AZ is a good distance away. I've been looking forward to this for awhile now

Playing extra songs is fine, but don't act like it's an encore and you've been compelled to retake the stage when you're actually just taking a planned, minute-long break to towel off and get a drink.

^^ That's the difference between a band a an "act". I don't go to many "on the radio band" concerts, but I've dug Coldplay since WAY back.

I agree, encore's used to be something very incredible, now they're expected additions to the show. That's the media for ya.

And hey, ^, report back on the Charlotte show tonight I'm still baffled that Coldplay a) came to North Carolina at all and b) came to RALEIGH of all places, even after going to Charlotte. But hey, that's cool

I can't wait either...they've been playing more or less the same setlist everywhere, so here's what to expect:

Square One
Politik
Yellow
God Put A Smile On My Face
Speed Of Sound
Low
A Rush Of Blood To Your Head
Amsterdam (as Chris said, for the roller coasters)
White Shadows
The Scientist
Til Kingdom Come
Ring Of Fire
Green Eyes
Clocks
Talk

Encore:
Swallowed In The Sea
In My Place
Fix You

"Encore"

LoL... that reminds me of watching U2 on Tv once. They got to the end of the set and Bono says something to the effect of "Instead of us pretending to leave so you can call us back, we are just going to play a few more songs, is that ok?"

I kinda liked that idea

Went to the Charlotte show and they played that exact same setlist...so expect it once again.

The show was good. Good marks on the light show, if you're into that sorta thing, and on the sound at Verizon. Coldplay had the whole auditorium standing throughout the show, which was surprising to me.

Great Show! I esp loved the part when Chris Martin coughed in the middle of the song and they had to start over! Classic! Also, did anyone notice that he said something like "thank you Charlotte" after the Johnny Cash segment?

^I didn't hear thank you charlotte.....but i loved the johnny cash segment. ring of fire is one of my all time favorite JC songs....that was a special surprise.

my favorite bit was when he coughed on the scientist and got scolded by the drummer and started over. i never did get my quarter or was it $0.50?

f*** rocked! I think the best songs (performance wise) were: Square One, Politik, Rush of blood to the head, Till kingdom come and In my place. What do ya'll think?

They started pretty late and I only wished the other wretched band did not force their entire album on us.

But Coldplay is a great live band!

I've talked to a lot of people that went, and few of them like a lot of metal and underground stuff while some were mainly into rap, but they said this was all-around the best show they've ever attended.

Lighting: A+
Sound: A+
On-Stage Antics: A+
Crowd Participation: A+

The only quarrel I had was that they didn't have the two side screens on, this was the only show I've been to at Alltel that didn't use them, oh well, that GIGANTIC screen behind them made up for it I guess.

great concert. yeah i was sitting straight on...never even noticed the two side screens were off. I just wish their set lasted longer. I also wish they picked up a different opening band.

Yeah Rilo Kiley wasn't very good...ok they weren't even a little good, haha.

Yeah I was waiting for "Trouble" after the encore but it didn't come, I was suprised, usually you'd expect them to hit the singles they released.

But when "Fix You" came on me and a buddy of mine were like, "I wonder if he'll have the light like in the video", and then we saw it and started hollerin', haha.

Such a great show, we need them to come back again next summer, haha.

Great show...Fix You was the song I was most looking forward to because I know it, but I haven't heard it over and over and over like the rest of their songs (from Parachutes and Rush of Blood). I guess they didn't use the screens next to the stage so they wouldn't distract from the screen ON the stage.

I thought Rilo Kiley was great, but sadly I got there late and only caught the last few of their songs.

I took a bunch of pictures, here are some of the better ones:

http://www4.ncsu.edu/~arbonin/2005_09_10_-_Coldplay_with_Rilo_Kiley_(photos).zip

If anyone else has any, please post them!!! I also have videos, if anyone wants them let me know. I was in the back of the pavilion so no close-ups, but you can see the whole stage and the lighting and screen effects well.

amazing show.

Got to sing Happy Birthday to the guitarist, Chris botched up a song & restarted, we got to hear a Johnny Cash song (and an awesome rendition of "Don't Panic"). And I was like 4 feet away from the stage which ruled. I saw the woman that threw her black bra onto his acoustic, lol

Got some awesome pics since I was so close, here ya go:

my only issue w/ the traffic. I hate going to/leaving Alltel. BTW, Rilo just wasn't my style, but OMG that guitarist still looks EXACTLY the same from his "Salute Your Shorts" days...just couldn't take him seriously, lol

Ok,aside from the fact that being in that crowd mde me feel like I was dropped into the middle of The OC show, people holding up cell phones instead of lighters made me feel old(lol),Rilo Kiley made me and the husband actually have to get up and leave they were so bad,the in between bands music made my ears bleed, and of course the raping that took place even for a bottle of water,
Coldplay were OUTSTANDING!!! Anyone who thinks they are going to fall asleep at a Coldplay show are idiots.
Between the lights, how personable the band was,the performance, and everything else, just one of the best shows I've seen in awhile.
Glad to have been there.

Yep, here's my whole stash (like ~300mb) of pics/video clips I took.

Taken with a Canon SD200 @ full resolution...some of them are excellent, some are just so-so. That's how it goes at a concert though.

I paid like $300 for 2 PIT tickets off eBay (wasn't quick enough when they went on sale), bought them primarily for my fiancee since Coldplay's her favorite band...it was definitely worth it. If you saw on the screen's during "Talk" when he took someone's cell phone, that gal was directly in front of me. It was such a great time...we we so close we could hear Chris ask the bassist "Am I outta tune?" off the mic.

Here's the link, enjoy!

Hey! Thanks for the comments, it was an AWESOME show!

Here's a link to d/load all my pics/movies in full resolution, just unzip & check them out

You have to call Alltel Pavillion on the day of the concert to find out. If you call before the day of the concert they won't know if cameras are allowed or not and I think they just print "no cameras" on all the tickets regardless.

I was surprised that they allowed them since most shows I've been to there don't. Hooray for Coldplay!
