one of the top RB's in the country, lesean mccoy is visiting us this weekend along with several other bigtime football recruits. if you see them at the basketball game, show them some love.

mccoy is from marcus stone's high school and we actually have a legit shot at him.

our RB depth is not as stock full as some think.
next year we will have 2 true RB's: Brown and Baker... both SO.'s

Blackman will be at the slot and Bobby will be in the secondary.

Redshirt any RB we sign this year (McCoy, Adams... those are probably the only two we're after hard) and they will be 2 years behind Brown and Baker... pretty good deal for the future.

But anyways, if yall see the recruits... give them some shoutouts or something because there are several bigtime ones visiting

Yes we have a legit shot. The guy is familar with Blackman and Stone. He is very close with Stone's family and wants to go to a school where he feels comfortable. We've got a pretty good pipeline from the state of PA working, hopefully this will be the next.

I'm not saying we will get him, we have a much better chance at signing the RB from Cary, Josh Adams, but we do have a legit shot at McCoy.

He played in 4 games as a freshamn while Stone was a senior. Thats not a huge connection.

and if we do get this kid...Josh Adams can go play in traffic or he can commit here and play DB or slot b/c he doesn't stand a chance playing RB here.

i believe they are family friends with with the cignetti's as well. I would say we have a legit shot. And say all you want about how we already have RB's...you always take a 5 star player at any position regardless of whether or not you "need" him.

With that top 7, I say we go after him because he is the real deal. It has been rumored all year that one or more of our running backs will transfer. Reggie Davis is a senior next year and I think Darrell goes to WR so why not get more backs?

Along with having close ties to Cignetti, his older brother was also one of Marcus Stone's main WRs.

However, I wouldn't choose us if I were him.

What is all of this talk of Blackman moving to wideout? Has he said something about it or is this just speculation?

This might be the old conventional line of thought but it helped us a shit ton this year with our stable of backs and wondeful line that could block for them right?

We don't gain anything if we get this guy because we still can't block for him. We can't move around players we have to accomodate for yet another great player and expect to take a step forward. It really doesn't make any sense to maintain the "we'll take any 5 star any time".

Had any two of our running backs been great OLs, how different would this season have been? It wouldn't have mattered if Davis or Stone was back there, we could have made something work for us.

THEN, we could have went after this guy this year or a Josh Adams, and be positioned in 2 years to keep the string of a quality run game going.

errr.... why wouldnt you take a 5star running back in this case? Its not like if we got him, it would prevent us from getting any other good Oline recruits. In fact, if I were an O lineman, I would go to the school that will make me look good i.e. the school with the most talented players on offense.

O line coaching is what keeps us from getting good O line recruits

i believe he's bringin one of his big OL with him on the visit.

we have lineman redshirting this year. we'll be fine.

Adams wants to play RB, why wouldn't he? but he is open to the idea of playing elsewhere if thats where the team needs him.

I see him in the slot on the next level, maybe RB/DB.

the last couple of games the only time he saw the field on offense was split out wide or in the slot........ the move makes sense to me

it only makes sense that he takes tramain's spot. With his hands, he would be a great option there.

^^He came in when we were in shotgun 2 back and ran a few fakes.

He came in at tailback in every game for at least a few plays and got at least one carry, mostly blocking though or thrown to out of the backfield.

He came in at the slot in the MD game and when he was thrown to, it was a pick because he didnt know how to make a play on the ball...really wasnt that bad of a throw.

I dont see him moving....but I also didnt see BW moving to safety. Whatever...I just doubt he would be much of a deep threat so I dont know how effective he will be.

He should NOT take Tramain's spot. He's not nearly that fast...at least top speed wise.
If we get that kid Lamarcus Bond...isnt he like 5'10" and fast as shit?...and State is HIGH on his list? He would take tramain's spot.

Adams/Bond would take Tramain's spot if they decide to come to State. But they would probably both redshirt and Blackman/Eugene/JC Neal would play the slot for a year.

State is extremely high on Bond's list and although Adams won't spit out a top list of schools, I know State is high up there with Adams as well.

Josh reminds me a lot of Chris Barclay at Wake, Josh is a little taller though. Adams is about 5'11 175, I think Bond is like 5'10 165... both are fast. Josh is more quick than fast... not sure about Bond. Both of them look awesome on video.

RB in high school doesnt always translate to RB in college. They're usually just the best athletes. Tramain was a RB in high school wasnt he? Hell, Mario Williams averaged like 10 yards a carry as a RB.

I'm glad our coach goes for big seasons every couple years. It's good to know so I won't be dissappointed during the bad years.

UT screwed Jeffries over and he could never get his grades right, I don't know where he's at now... probably ECU.

People wonder why we're redshirting so many OLinemen this year when we have needed help, its because you much rather have a 5th year guy playing the line than a True-Freshman. The line is won by strength and experience. We'll be fine. The pieces to the puzzle are coming together, sooner or damn later we're gonna have a bigtime season when things just fall in place.

IF Blackman had not dropped that punt, IF we wouldnt of had those personal fouls... We could have beat VT and this season could have turned out COMPLETELY different. IF's don't win games, but they do provide some hope for the future. We're close, very close.

Indeed, i say give us 2 years and we should be something else, all of our offense is fairly young, our secondary is extremely young, and D line is really the only thing thats gonna be gone cuz its older...but in 2 years i say we have the best season we have ever had.

I wish we'd start recruiting more linemen. It takes a couple of years to build quality depth on the line and our current strategy seems to be to wait till a D lineman's junior or senior year and move him over.

Mario was a 5-star DE coming out of high school. I think we've got nothing but 3-star DL on our team right now. Maybe one or two 4-star. Mario was TOP-NOTCH coming out of high school.

I just get completely miffed by people making claims that go against recent history.

The only thing we improved on over 2 seasons this past two was getting penalties down and that took 1.5 seasons to get right.

To say in one post our OL will be improved, while the next guy is saying our OL won't get better until we get a better coach, AND to say we'll take another stud running back despite proving this year it didn't help us

is just one big clusterfuck of "don't know what the hell you/we are talking about."

Mario was also a 4 stars according to Rivals.com

That year's class finished #9 in the nation according to scout and #7 according to rivals so that shows we can recruit with the big boys. We just have to do it more consistently.
