Yea, I know a few people I went to school with that say law school is a whole lot easier than chem eng. was. All you do is read then interpret what you read.

^^i dunno. big expensive decision that most everyone disagrees with, people hate you for going, you get scarred for life, and you get a membership in a cool club when you get out. R & R is spent boozing, blazing, and hooking up. High attrition rates.

Sounds like 'Nam to me...

^it all depends on the strengths and weaknesses of the individual person. Some complete dumbasses can do very well, while i've seen MD's struggle.

We have so much petty drama going on, you could equate it with war action.

It is insane and I am so sick of it. I am not sure how a good few people will ever maintain a bar license or working relationships when they do not get their way.

Thats because 80% of the people I know in law school are there because they either

a) didnt want to work after college
b) werent mature enough and ready to support themselves

bigun, stop trolling in Old School.

PS - I know plenty of people that are engineers right now that are borderline failing out of school. I also know many more engineers whose LSAT scores didn't approach anything resembling respectability.

So continuing their education until they're ready is a bad thing?

i'm missing something...

No thats why theres so much drama because alot of them are immature.

well there is plenty of drama, but i don't necessarily blame it all on immaturity. To some extent, sure, but thats the case in every environment of 20-somethings.

I have seen quite a few old people be drama queens

Also, we have a few students that think it is unethical for a law student to represent themselves pro se in legal matters without a license. Give me a break.

i'm on Spring Break right now, just taking some time off. I have a couple of prospects for the summer, but overall I'm just taking it easy right now.

If the 3L year moves faster than the 2nd, I won't know what to do. Time is flying...

3L year is a breeze. I was lucky though, I landed a job early in first semester. So other than being broke as a law student, and having to go to class its been a breeze. Grades have come easy and have went up with less studying time. I have played PS 2 (Final Fantasy 12, I know I am late but I been in law school, and College Football Gameday).

Only 42 days till I graduate. Holla back

haha nice. Congrats on your upcoming graduation and good luck on the bar! I can't imagine having the time to play video games when writing papers keeps me from updating outlines or preparing for exams. Right now, I just need a break!

Thats wassup. and Omicron....don't worry, just a few more weeks and you will be starting easy street. Just don't get lazy like me and stop studying...but then again, I only have 2 more essays to write in my law school career, so its breezy.

But after graduation I will be all serious...the Bar is a one time test for me!!!

once you've worked at a firm for a summer or two summers, how important are your grades? i know you can't fail and still expect a job, but Bs? Cs? thoughts?

depends where you are. I have friends in larger firms that did not request transcripts, especially if they already extended an offer.

How big a factor were grades in getting you the job in the first place?

I would think that grades would just be another factor on the balancing test. If you have great job references and mediocre grades, possibly. If you have mediocre job references and great grades, possibly.

Missed Dean's List by 2 ranks = motivation!

Clerking for a Superior Court Judge this summer...sweetness!

For me, I landed my internship on interview alone. Did not request any grades, writing samples, or transcripts although I offered.

Others have gotten internships and jobs in various ways. I would say it largely depends on the size of the firm, and their procedures. If you have worked with them for two summers and did good work and they like you, I think that can go further than banging grades. BUT if they only hire based of grades...then grades are important.

You are about to graduate aren't you Jenn? I can't imagine how pathetic my studying habits are going to be by next year.

Congrats.

And even though you don't need this since you are already probably done with Evidence, here is a funny video I found looking for an easy way to memorize all the hearsay exceptions. It didn't really help at all so if you have an acronym or something that would be great.

Evidence is Admissible for such purposes as:
MIMIC (Motive, Identity, Mistake/Accident or Absence thereof, Intent, Common plan or scheme

Maybe that helps some.

^ awsome, I would've had Real Estate Finance Monday too had I not dropped it earlier in the semester. It was a good choice because I would've had Tax Saturday, RF Monday and BA on Tuesday. I definitely need the extra time to go over this BA stuff. Congrats on graduating, only one more year for me!

Sorry you dropped REF. Prof took it really easy. Gave us some puff material. Open notes and open statutes. 60 multiple choice, which included a few multiple choice and fill in the blanks. It was really a gimmie Exam. (By the way, if you are in a class with a large amount of 3L's, most likely the professor is going to be light and not make it difficult...they don't want to fail 3L's).

I literally took 3-4 pages of notes this semester. Read the statutes over the weekend and splashed together an outline. Just one more exam...DE II, and dammit I will be done. See you all at the end of the road.

It can be done...oh yes...it can be done.

Of course it's pretty much expected down here to go to the games if you can.
