Also, both are great places to find people who don't shower

Web site is up.
http://www.isleepwith.com/2604-hillsborough/

They don't mention anything about the lack of parking on that website. Will they have a bunch of students show up on August 1st with cars, only to find there is nowhere to put them?

for comparison to downtown, a studio or 1 bedroom at the Hue runs $1100-$1400 per month

^plus it includes cable, internet, and utilities up to $40 a month.

That makes $985 a lot more affordable, especially for a couple who want to share a 1 bedroom.

It will have no problem filling up.

if they price it too low it will get shitty quick, its a desirable enough location that they can price it to be selective

I have a ~600 ft2 apartment in Greensboro at the moment due to work and my highest total utility bill so far over the past few months is $49 (water and electricity combined). $40 allotment for a 1 bedroom apartment and new construction is not bad.

As it starts to get warmer the bill will certainly be more, but $40 would cover nearly all in fall/spring in the apartment I'm in probably and there is no reason it shouldn't be similar for that place.

Apparently Hot Box Pizza has closed. Never fear though, I'm sure another pizza place will open in its place soon.

Just a thought , but that wouldn't be the worst place in the world for Sadlack's to move to if there aren't currently any other viable options on the street.

I was in St. Louis over the weekend, and Delmar Blvd beside Washington University made me imagine what Hillsborough St could aspire to be. http://visittheloop.com/

Hot Box made some pretty terrible pizza, but its sad they closed. They did a good job fixing up that space.

Also, good riddance to Hot Box, shitty awful place even if they did some decent renovations. I'm wondering what will replace it.

Oh no, where will people go to buy decent, overpriced pizza and have shitty service?

Used to be a shitty old house. But it was the last shitty old house on Hillsborough, so I guess we should be sad.

Plus it's already a hotspot for the bums.

Next to Kinko's, where that old convenience store used to be. I like it. #9 is awesome.

Hopefully it's next to a park so the bums won't have to go too far and get killed by buses.

This should be pretty cool. Jim Goodnight's son will be redoing 3210 Hillsborough St. building. Hes done a great job on a few othee buildings in downtown Raleigh. Should be a good thing for this area of Hillsborough across from Subconscious and Reader's Corner.

Nice!!! I've hoped for years that someone would rescue that building before all the tiles fall off the facade. The question being, what type of space will it become?

That whole stretch of Hillsbourgh (basically once you get past UT/Valentine Commons is the area I was hoping someone would look to renovate next. Glad to see something's gonna happen to improve the look of the buildings there.

^Where Hotbox is now? I always wondered what was there. By the time I showed up at NCSU it was a vacant lot IIRC, and then they built the shell of a building which sat empty for a while and then finally became Sylvia's.

glad they're doing something with the old Nehi building. My dad and I have been wanting to develop that for years but the guy who owns it wanted $texas for the building. I always pictured a brewery there but I guess Raleigh Brewing Company is right across the street now. It's got a great layout, a giant area that could be for a patio and stage in the back, and ample dirt parking behind that. They could really turn it into something badass.

saw someone spray painted on every one of those panels on the bowling alley... some message about casual sex or something, i can't remember

i hope they take advantage of the vandalism and just go ahead and take the rest of that stuff down

i'm sure orientation groups visiting hillsborough street this week thought it looked pretty swell!

^ I noticed that over a week ago. Dismayed that they haven't been proactive about it. You can literally make one call to the city and they'll send a crew to remove graffiti.

The problem with that would be what's behind the panels--probably plain brick. A long brick facade with nothing but narrow vertical windows would arguably look worse than the panels (though the graffiti certainlty can't help).
