Painted my new garage floor yesterday with that paint. Looks pretty good. I know its not as durable as the epoxy stuff, but all I really need is to keep the oil from staining the floor, and this will do that.

this seems like a pretty cool project you have going here...

two questions:

how long do you think until you complete the garage? I ask cause it looks like it is really slow going...

how much money are you guys budgeting on this bad boy? or how much is it going to cost when all is said and done?

^it's slow enough to build such a structure and do it "right" even when it's your profession (~30 days being stick built giving it a few hours a day, or a couple full days a week), much less working just a few hours a week and not having honed skills of the trade from doing it day in/day out.

it's going slow because we're laying blocks around 3 or 4 hrs at night when we can spare the time. we'll be laying em tomorrow for awhile and try to knock out the rest of the wall. and we've budgeted right around 12 grand for materials. i think i said that before, but maybe not.

and yes, as BigBlueRam said it is a little bit harder than it looks, but it will be wayyyyy worth it when we're done.

on that note, kegger tomorrow night. come on out. pm me for my address/directions

^ Concrete is poured for the slab, Motar is used for the block. Everyone mixes their own motar. For more than 1 yd of concrete it doesn;t make sense to try and mix your own concrete, time or money wise

^ nope. we're hauling in about 25 tons of fill dirt if i'm correct. keith knows the exact numbers, then hauling in gravel, compacting it all and then pouring. we're going to get all the shit inside out, you wouldn't believe how much crap is/was in the ground.

oh, and we finished the wall tonight YAYYYYYYYYYYYY

excuse the poor shots bc it's dark

no freaking crap. your talking to someone who used to do masonry work. Did you even read the comment that I made about not thinking a cement company would run on Sunday? For some reason I read :
Quote :
"alright, lunch then finishing this damn wall. then we're gonna pour the slab. any of you fuckers wanna help us when we pour it?"

as they were gonna pour the slab today. And if they were gonna pour the slab today, and no truck is available on a sunday, that would leave mixing your own . . . which as you said, makes no sense for a job this big. Which is why I asked in the first place.

is a nigga tryin to help out in a couple weeks?

i need at least one more person somewhat experianced to help, i will need two people screeding, one person helping with that and pulling the reinforcing wire up into it, one person floating, ad hopefully by the time all the bleed water evaporates and it needs to be troweled, we'll already have all 14 yards on the ground and i can get back to that, cause it takes some skill to run that thing

Do half the garage at a time, if your help and skill level is limited. Makes it a lot easier to work the slab and have enough time before it sets up on you. Especially if you are doing it before you frame it inand the suns beating down on it. And then you can do the other side another weekend.

As for the wire mesh, I always get the readymix with the fiber renforced concrete for slabs, a lot easier to work with than the wire mesh.

getting both, fiber reinforced with retarder, shouldnt be that hot when we pour and that will makeit workable even longer, and i plan on unloading the first truck around 3, the second aroun 3:45, and working it into the evening with the power trowel
