wow...this is disturbing. I was searching scout.com the other day and i about fainted. We all know that UNC is kicking our ass in recruiting, infact they are ranked 25th in the nation. But what i didnt realize is that Duke, DUKE! has a better 07 class. Although we have the same amount of three star recruits, they at least have two four star commits. Thats so sad. We have none! What the fuck. Yes i know the season isnt even over yet and national signing day is far away but this is a terrible start. What are the chances that things get better? Very slim, especially considering the fact they we are 3-7 and Carolina just hired Butch Davis. We do have some small bit of hope tho, later today Jay Smith will be making his decision. Smith is a four star wideout who could make an immediate impact on the team. We need him badly, as it would help draw more prospects in. So who knows the answer to the question of how do we turn this around?

who do you think has a better eye for talent? chuck or rivals.com? especially talent that can fit chucks system. chuck knows what hes doing and has never had a highly rated recruiting class yet our players are so talented.

stone was a 4star btw and is proof stars should be taken with a morsal of salt.

Yeah i bet chuck knows what hes doing, we can all tell by our awesome record of 3-7. Stone could have been great if someone would actually develop him, he has a cannon for an arm but just sucks at everything else.

thats like saying chuck coudl develop me into a qb. if the kid can't throw the kitd can't throw. having a powerful arm has nothing to do with accuracy.

Don't mind hcngay. No one takes him seriously anyway.

The fact that our recruiting has dropped off considerably since the P-Riv era only drives home the point that we need a change more. It's not like we aren't targeting these guys, it's that they aren't choosing us.

A loss to either UNC or ECU will be the end for me. I would like a change but I'm not TOTALLY agaisnt Chuck. Lose one of those and I will be.

not from anybody. or else coaches would just develop accuracy in one of their corners or running backs and have free mike vicks.

the point is, is that stone was listed as a qb out of high school and obviously showed enough talent to be considered a four star. Its obvious that the coaching staff hasnt helped him make the transition into the program and becoming a leader. Oh and in case you didnt realize, being a qb involves a lot more than accuracy. you cant just throw a corner out there cuz he is fast and you "somehow" developed accuracy. its about poise, decision making, and a shit load of responsibility. believe me not just anyone can control an offense. yeah stone sucks and i feel like he could have been good, but in the end we will just put him at TE.

every year, dumb fucks panic because we don't have the big recruits early in the recruiting season. here's a little inside info for all of you: ALL OF THE BEST RECRUITS DON'T COMMIT UNTIL THE VERY END. SOME DON'T COMMIT UNTIL SIGNING DAY. that's how recruiting works.

I love to get talent, but adding another talented receiver is not going to turn our team around.

nah i think it could help, i mean ya we need a qb that can play and a line that can protect him but the main thing is, is that smith will draw attention from other big recruits, kind of like with our 07 bball class. onces we landed jj, we brought in a couple more huge commits.

yo superchevy is you would have read my first post, you would have seen that i said, "yes i know the season isnt even over yet and national signing day is far away" kind of implies that i realize that none of the good players commit until later but regardless, this is a sad start. And yeah actually recruiting has slipped over the past years, its pretty obvious.

That is so dumb. So you're telling me there is no way to accurately judge recruiting classes? I'm sure Ted Roof likes the guys he goes after too, that doesn't make them great players..

you definitely cant say that most of the best players wait until signing day. there are still some high profile recruits uncommitted, but the top schools (aka usc, texas, ohio st. etc.) always have numerous 5 stars and top 100 players by now. we do usually get some of our best recruits on signing day though.

rivals doesnt know shit. chuck knows what he is doing. the man can recruit great if you're going to give him credit for anything. great recruiting is having an eye for talent not looking on rivals getting as many stars as you can.

of the players that you mentioned, very few stand out (manny, stephen tulloch) the rest of them really arent that great in all honesty. Oh and the reason that tulloch left, was only because everyone else was leaving and he realized that we had no talent backing up those positions.

what? tj williams? brian clark? oliver hoyte? in hte nfl

tank tyler? john dunlap? willie young? dejuan morgan? pat lowery? leroy harris? garland heath?

the guys on here are alot fo the reason we've won 3 games and been in so many others.

aj davis blackman brown baker sutton and pressly are the only good recruits i can think of that are good now.

and mario wasnt even a 5 star recruit. he should have been a 6 star recruit lol. they just don't know better than chuck.

sorry i ment to mention tank. brian clark wasnt event hat good, he stood out from a extremely poor set of wr's. the kid couldnt even catch his first 3 years, he was terrible. oliver hoyte is playing fullback now, so you cant even count him. dont bother to mention anyone on the team now outside of tank because we are shit right now, and you know it.

Obviously they do considering the last three years we've been average to mediocre, just like Chucks recruiting classes. We still have some talent on the team that Chuck got thanks to riding the coattails of Philip Rivers. Once that is gone we are going to be in the shitter unless he can turn it around..

V you are so delusional it's funny...

the whole team is not shit. we are obviously better than the other team in alot of places if the games are close.

florida might be a 6 loss team if marcus stone and daniel evans was their qb

we would have 1 loss at the most if chris leak was our qb.

^ur an idiot. according to rivals marcus stone is one of the best players on our team when he is clearly the worst. you have to have talent somwhere to compete.

Good job trying to make an argument by putting words in my mouth. Everyone knows NO rating system is going to be perfect. So Stone has no football instincts, that doesn't mean he wasn't a highly rated prospect out of high school.

If Chuck 'knows what he is doing' then why are we mired in mediocrity both on the recruiting and on the field?

Quote :
"omg bad record means every player on the team sucks"

I didn't say that. Bad record + mediocre recruiting since Phil moved on = probably time for a chagne.

Quote :

your justification for recruiting having dropped is scout.com's rankings? rankings don't mean shit. what has unc done with their top 25 rankings? what has florida state done with their top 10 rankings?

our best players have been 2* and 3*. scout.com has our recruiting class rankings having gotten worse, but we're placing more kids into the nfl more than ever, and in the 1st round at that.

get the fuck outta here with this bullshit.

Every single one of those players we placed in the NFL were from either the year Philip graduated or the year after. If you don't think recruiting has gone down I don't know what to tell you. Of course there are going to be certain players who are not highly recruited that turn out to be absolute stars (Manny Lawson for instance). However, there is a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH higher chance of a Top 100 guy becoming a start than a 2 or 3 * recruit. That is absolutely indisputable.

Quote :
"what has unc done with their top 25 rankings? what has florida state done with their top 10 rankings?"

FSU has had one bad year, this one. They aren't establishing a pattern of mediocrity. UNC has a god awful coach.

Quote :
"rankings don't mean shit."

Then what do? Saying we have good recruits? Hoping the recruits turn out well? No offense to YOU but given the Top 100 lists and the percentage of those players who turn out to be major college stars I'll take the words of scout.com and rivals.com over some dude on the Internet that can't even spell words correctly (hcngay)

that's due to coaching, and not recruiting. we've got some money recruits.

Quote :

think about what you posted. p riv was drafted in '04. we're in '06. the kids who are on the team that has never played with philip are still freshman and sophmores. they can't be drafted yet.

and fsu has had "bad years" for the past 3; this year being their worst since bobby's early years.

^^ unc has also had several of their 4* recruits kicked off the team

see: Fred Sparkman, Adarius Bowman, Mike Mason

Tremaine Goddard, their best player in the secondary was lost before the season due to an ankle injury

UNC also redshirted quite a bit of their incoming class from this past season
