Meh, I haven't gotten into Survivor man. The few episodes that I've seen were pretty boring. I think Man vs. Wild was a little more fun to watch. I don't care if it's faked. I don't care if he slept at the Hilton and ate caviar while in the Andes. All I care about if it's fun to watch or not. And Survivor man so far has been kind of boring. Which ones are the better episodes?

Les practically gave up in the last episode. I don't blame him, but he didn't really reach his goal. If there wasn't a safety camp a few "hours walk away" he would have died. It was still a good episode though. I haven't yet watched tonight's.

I don't know if it has already been confirmed that Man Vs Wild is bullshit, but the episode he did in Hawaii was definitely a fake. they filmed it on the side of the big island that I grew up on, and in a few of the scenes, he would have needed to have walked over 60 miles to get from the forests up on the mountains down to near the ocean. they filmed the show in three distinct locations, where there is no way he could have traveled on foot between them.

And, my two cents, if you follow the stuff he does in the wilderness, your going to get yourself killed. sure, its good for show, but running down mountains alone in the wilderness instead of walking is a great way to break your legs and die. Survivorman might be boring, but his stuff could actually save your life.

This show always reminds me of a friend I know from sailing. He is ex special ops, who after discharge, set off to see the world--before college. He met his now best freind, by pulling him out of some frigid waters, and doing cpr. He went on to save him (and to have the favor returned) as he treked around alaska paddling, ice climbing, etc etc. He's climbed Denali.

Lot's of cool stories, and a hell of a sailboat racer.

Even if it is fake, he still does a bunch of badass stuff. I'm not convinced it's fake because I haven't seen any actual, real proof. Still awesome to watch though. Bet that dude gets mad girls.

I read an interview with Bear where he said pretty much everything he got "called out" on was publicly available in his blog the whole time. He basically said there is no way they could pack as much into a show as they do without some pre-planning and a little help.

Either way, he has done some pretty grand adventures outside of the show. I'll go ahead and say that he has done bigger and better adventures than anyone on TWW will accomplish in their lifetime. For that I give him a lot of respect.
