I'm thinking of getting an Ipod Touch today.

Anyone have one of these, seen one, etc. that can give advice, tips, or feedback?

I won't be using it solely for music; mostly watching shows, playing emulators and using wifi.

Is there a way to use google maps on it? I know that 2G is missing, but modders have added alot of the other missing programs.

Also, I won't be getting an iPhone because I like my phone and don't need a $90 monthly phone bill, so don't bother convincing me to upgrade to it.

get a iphone and unlock it...use it as ipod touch + second phone and profit!

I have one and I like it quite a bit. If you unlock it you can load all of the iphone apps (mail, maps, stocks, notepad, etc.) that were left off the touch. Not to mention all of the other wonderful apps that have been written. And frankly, unlocking them is beyond easy. If you were one of the people like me that wanted an iphone without the phone, then get a touch.

Not sure whether to get one of these or a new Zune. 8 gigs is a little small, what's the point of a large screen if you don't have room for movies?

marware makes some incredible cases for the touch. i love mine. my dad and i watched hot rod on my touch while waiting for my stepbrother to become a father.

i have the 8 gig touch, its nice, yea it would be nicer to have more storage but its enough for me to put 1000 songs and 5 vids on there, i would recommend an iskin case at http://www.iskin.com of you do buy one of these, interface is freakin awesome, zunes kinda suck cause not as many accessories and the interface to wmp kinda sucks, Apple FTW!!!

Also seems like it would be impossible to do any sort of controlling (volume, song selection, play/pause) without taking it out of your pocket and looking at it.

The Zune no longer uses a WMP backend. The software was rebuilt from scratch for version 2. Pretty much all of the accessories you need from major companies are available and the wider selection from the second-tier brands will become more available eventually.

yeah, i don't really know why zune came up in this discussion...i have one and love it, but it's not a competitor to the touch

i "jailbreaked" mine earlier this week and it's pretty darn awesome now. to me, the marware sport (black) is the best case because it's sturdy enough to protect a fall, but flexible enough to not get on your nerves. it has extremely high reviews on most accessory sites. oh yeah, it comes with the stick on protective screens as well.

BoxWave makes the best screen protectors (I like the Crystal for my zune but used the Anti-Glare on my PDA for years). Their Flexiskin is a great product too. I prefer the silicone cases to anything else for the grip and little bit of shock absorption.

My main source of audio in my car is from my ipod..I have a 30 gig right now...I would love to get the 160.

I mess around with my friends..it's a great product.
