New Top 40 NC HS Players for the Class of 2008 was released.

Of note is that Manning took over the top spot and Barnes dropped to the #5 spot. State has 8 commits in the top 27, two of those being the in the top 5, but originally top 2 (Barnes and Manning). UNC has one commit, Braden Hanson (who sucks), and he is #10. It'll be interesting to see where E.J. Abrams-Ward (#2), R.J. Mattes (#4), Spencer Adams (#7), and Kevin Reddick (#8) choose to go.

^ I'll guess Reddick goes to Carolina as does Abrams-Ward. Adams will end up at Florida and Mattes goes to Tennesee. Of course these are all guesses. Hope I'm wrong about Reddick and Abrams-Ward. Mattes as well. I'd like to have Adams, but I just don't get the impression that he's high on any of the in-state schools.

Leesville halfback and defensive back Zach Greene, a junior, is also making recruiting headlines this week. Coach Green told WRAL on Tuesday that Greene received an offer from Tom O'Brien and the N.C. State Wolfpack on Monday.

Greene recorded 48 tackles and three interceptions during his junior season, but he was also capable of playing on the offensive side of the ball.

In 15 games, Greene ran for 110 yards and one touchdown, but he also caught 45 passes for 704 yards and eight touchdowns. Greene also ran a punt return back for a touchdown in 2007.

With one year of eligibility remaining at Leesville Road, Greene has already posted All-Conference honors in his last two seasons.

We must get Devonte Holloman out of the famous Independence HS. He will more than likely be a game changer and probably end up being one of those "impact players" on the NCAA Football 20** when he's an upperclassman. Apparently Independence's coach, Tom Knotts, likes TOB, and we've already gotten some in-roads there as evident by getting Mario Carter out of there. They say that Holloman would also like to major in engineering so we've got that going for us. Reel em' in Tom! Next year is when TOB builds a wall around this state and fends off Clemson, VT, UVA, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, FSU, Florida, etc. from stealing the state's best players away.

For the '08 rankings, Wichita-East had some linebacker who signed with Miami that was ranked like #1 OLB in the nation. I live in Kansas and go to the games where Wichita East is playing the local team called Hutchinson.

Anyway Hutchinson fucking kills them everytime and I have never noticed any East player being all that special. Just seems strange to me that these guys are ranked so high, yet don't seem to stand out when I've seen them in person.

I'd love to get Holloman and Nixon, but everything I've seen suggests we have a lot of work to do to get either. It always seems the top OL from NC jumps to the SEC, so I don't have a good feeling about Nixon though I'd absolutely love to get the top OL recruit in the nation. And Holloman's Scout profile has 3 teams at high interest and we're not one of them, but you can rarely trust those. I think Carter needs to get in his ear for State, get us a solid pipeline into Independence High.

It'll be tough to get the Independence kid. There are exceptions, like Carter, but most of those kids go to the SEC and remember that Columbia/Clemson are both closer than UNC/State to Charlotte

no, just tell me where hes gonna play? Lots of schools were recruiting him as a WR, a position which hes never played, all because he said he wants to play it.

He's rated as a LB, but i heard he looked out of position at the Shrine Bowl playing LB. Thats why I'm saying you better put him on the DL. I'm not questioning his athleticism. I'm questioning him as a football player.
