^^Agreed I want GGG out because his tactics suck and he is to reliant on old MLS players. Not because as a teenager he got drunk and got physical with his now wife, who was probably also drunk.

This seems like dirty pool, and just an excuse for them to fire him after they said they were negotiating a new contract. Although it also sounds like blackmail was involved and they got this out to stave off negative press.

And by better I mean more embarassing for US Soccer. I guess Claudio can kiss his Austin FC job goodbye, but I also don't see how GGG keeps his job either. They both come off looking like a U11 Travel team with these antics.

If by US Soccer, you mean the federation, I 100% agree... it is embarrassing as fuck. After reading Gio's mom's statement, it definitely shows the federation and Gregg were more than a little misleading with their interpretation/statements yesterday. None of it is a good look, and I would be embarrassed to be Gio at the moment, but our terrible federation is a train wreck.

So the way I see it you have a dynamic young player in Gio Reyna who has a massive future for both club and country.

Then you have Gregg Berhalter a mediocre head coach that probably shouldn't be coaching above a mid level MLS team. Who got the job because he had family in US Soccer.

I am sorry US Soccer really has no choice you have to not renew Berhalter and get a new coach. His postion will be untenable, its obvious Gio will be frozen out by him and if his club form is good that will anger fanbase and some players. This would be more egregious than him freezing out John Brooks.

Agreed with that, but this came to a head when it leaked that Gregg was doing a ted talk tour on the back of his "genius" leadership wherein he managed to patch up a self-inflicted wound.

It's absolutely ridiculous that Gio was ever told in the first place that he would have a limited role in the WC. Its double ridiculous that an internal team matter got broadcast in a way that could have jeopardized a kid's professional future. The icing on the cake is that us soccer feels like it has to start an investigation (because of all the women's soccer abuse stuff) after a private conversation and now even if it wasn't the Reyna's intention, it went public too.

Maybe us soccer avoids all this shit by not being a completely inbred pile of shit of an organization.

Definitely a bulldozer parent, but according to her the waves came when our awful coach decided to leak internal team problems via a motivational "leadership" summit after the cup was over, not when Gio didn't get playing time.

That was what seemingly set off the Reynas and although in the same scenario I wouldn't have called my adult son's coach, I would have been steaming mad too if my longtime friend effectively is trying to torpedo my son's burgeoning career because he is getting media heat (rightfully so) about not playing my son in favor of some mediocre MLSers.

As a new Leeds bandwagoner from late last season, I would like to invite all Americans to join us in the relegation fight.

Gio scored the game winner today and did the Depay celebration again. LOL. The kid is making Gregg look like the clownshow he is.

Also, USMNT friendly against Serbia tonight at 10pm on HBO max and peacock (spanish). There are a couple of players that will be getting their first caps and could play for us in 2026... Paxten Aaronson (Brendan's more technical little brother), Brendan Vazquez, Gaga Slonina (young chelsea signing at GK), and Alex Vendejas (mexican duel nat we just stole back).

Berhalter investigation is over. Spoiler alert. The Reynas are the quintessential sports-parent assholes and Berhalter can still potentially be hired as coach of the USMNT.

Also, Berhalter didn't kick his wife once but pushed her to the ground and kicked her there until someone stopped him.

Our federation is so damn inbred that it allows bullshit like this to happen behind the scenes. I sure hope they hire someone from outside as sporting director.
