between the countless login issues and server downtime, i managed to get to level 30 and through all four acts. also got a hardcore guy to level 15 (while the softcore servers were down).

i'm loving the game, and it's going to own my life for the foreseeable future. as expected.

Managed to get to level 32 on my WD. Got through the skeleton king on nightmare and called it a day.

Azmodan and Diablo boss fights are a little tricky. Even though they telegraph their moves, I had a hard time moving out of the fire in time. The click to move system isn't as responsive as WASD. I can't imagine trying to do that on hardcore mode.

Also, Nightmare rare/elite packs are no joke. Looking forward to Hell

any character made on a specific region server is only playable on that server. So even if america was up, you couldnt use your current character on eu.

One of the guys at Gamestop said that Blizzard was going to be releasing a patch to allow offline mode play. Any truth to this?

I highly doubt it. From what I understand most of the work takes place server side.

It's unfortunate. Availability of an offline mode is probably the only thing that will get me to buy this game. I get an hour or two a day to play games so it really sucks to be at the mercy of a server or net connection. If it's down during my small window, oh well try again tomorrow. If I wanted an MMO I would have bought an MMO - I guess Diablo is now an MMO, with a 4 player limit.

Give it a few months and I expect many will move on to other games and the servers will unclog. I'll look for that never coming offline patch or a significant price drop to compensate.

yeah i doubt that happens because like folks said, item drops happen server side, to prevent duping and all the other fun shit that happened in D2. If they lose control of that, then the Real Money Auction House becomes essentially worthless and they lose their opportunity to make $JUPITER off it.

So why not have offline only characters that can't be taken online, like D2? They can still rule the economy for online play.

One day they'll shut those servers down. If I had the assurance that they would eventually come out with an offline patch (like a self contained offline mini-server if need be), even if they announced that it would be coming out in 3 - 4 years time, it would help.

You're on crack if you think it will take Blizzard a few months to make everyone (that isn't suffering some technical problem on their end) stable. They would lose all of their players and many of their WoW players as well.

I want an offline mode for the sole purpose of playing it on my laptop when I'm not near a hotspot.

Why should I be attached to the internet just to play a game. I've never bought into online gaming. In fact the only 2 online games I've ever play were Starcraft, and by online I mean the Owen hall network - which rocked back in '98, and Uneral Tourney 99.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't like being tied to someone else's servers just to play a game.

Bought it though, and its great, I just hope Blizzard will listen to the older minority that doesnt want just online play.

game is really fun...went with wizard. Maybe I just suck but I don't see a reason to use any other primary ability besides magic missile yet (only lvl 12).

i'm having some weird framerate stuttering even though i'm pushing 100fps. Probably some AMD bullshit

I'd be willing to bet it was network lag. My wife was having the same issue and it didn't matter how she set her graphics. Isn't that neat? Network lag on a single player game. Nvidia GTS 250, btw.

bleh. i don't really care about the online-only play. after the first problems with the servers are ironed out, it won't really matter, because i rarely lack internet connection, anyway. i'm much more hung up on the skills system.

^I agree. I'll wait a few weeks and see what people are saying once they hit the level cap. Unless there are a vast number of rare/unique items, seems like all the characters will be more or less the same at the cap.

Replay value didnt factor into Blizzard's thinking Id imagine seeing as this isnt a subscription game. Once everyone pre ordered or picked it up at launch all the money was made. If you only play it for a week it doesnt matter to them they already collected on you.
