That's my hometown...In fact, that's where I used to go for late night hookups with my girlfriends in high school.

Speaking of Edgecombe County...I went to a wedding in Pinetops last year that was followed by a reception at the country club. I had no idea that place would actually have a country club, but it was actually pretty nice.

While I'm sure some people make their fortunes off the hard work of others I'd guess that most of the wealthy people in that area are either living off old money or their own hard work with very little reliance on the poor people. That's part of the reason the unemployment rate is so high. There isn't much of a self-sustaining economy to create a distinguishable middle class.

1) Dixie Queen Seafood in Winterville. Best seafood EVER. I kid you not.
http://www.mytravelguide.com/restaurants/profile-32448505-United_States_North_Carolina_Winterville_Dixie_Queen_Seafood_Restaurant_Inc.html

2) Mongolian Empire on Greenville Blvd. Its one of the buffet places where you fill your bowl with whatever meats, veggies, and sauces you want and they cook it for you. Like Crazy Fire, but much much better.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=mongolian+house+greenville,+nc&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.569986,79.101563&ie=UTF8&ll=35.579892,-77.377589&spn=0.006003,0.009656&t=h&z=17&iwloc=A

4) If you've never been to one hit up an Andy's, its a small burger/cheesteak chain that started up in Goldsboro, NC. There are a few around Greenville.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=andy%27s&sll=35.579892,-77.377589&sspn=0.006003,0.009656&ie=UTF8&ll=35.587213,-77.37761&spn=0.024011,0.038624&t=h&z=15&iwloc=A

5) Cubbie's...basically the same kind of place as Andy's.

6) They also have a Ham's downtown. Ham's is a small chain that actually started in Greensboro, but they seem to be a lot more prevalent in Eastern NC than around here. Best loaded cheese fries and home made potato chips in the world.

quick update: I've gone to B's bbq and King's. IMO, B's is better. I'm planning to hit up Wilber's soon.

kind of in that they sell hamburgers/hotdogs. cubbies is way better.

B's is a definite must, be there early-ish to make sure you get food (definitely on sat.)

daily grind is indeed very overrated imho

trade mart on 10th st(right off evans) early morning for awesome cheese biscuits

finelli's for italian food

i was always a fan of b's, ended up working just down the road from kings at an architecture firm one summer and would go there fairly regularly - its good, but it doesnt come close to b's

^^^don't waste your time at wilber's. goldsboro is actually a great place for bbq, but not there. it used to be great, but it's gone to shit. don't judge goldsboro's bbq after eating there. instead, go to stonewall's in hood swamp on a saturday.

i really don't like andy's anymore. every time i go there there's more and more pepper on the burger and it's at least 80% black pepper now. i do like steamed buns but it's not worth it.

I used to work at Andy's, and I would eat there all the time. The burgers were good as hell and from what I understood, marginally healthy.

I haven't eaten at one in a long time though, they changed the type of meat for the burgers and it wasn't as good anymore.

"Rocky Mount, North Carolina - Old Man In Tree

An Old Man's Face is carved into a tree at battle Park in Rocky Mount (not a Monkey Face, as reported earlier). Located beside the supports of an old bridge on the trail through Battle Park. You have to park your car at one of the picnic areas, then walk downstream on the paved walkway until you come to a pier that has old bridge supports located on both sides of the river. To your right on the pier is a tree with a carving of an old man's face with a ring through his nose. This may have been for tying up a boat at one time. The old man's face has been on the tree for as long as I can remember. It is over 30 years old, maybe older. [Chip Little, 05/17/2006]"

p.s., That pic of Jason from page 1 was taken on Madison St. in RR!

Going where at night; Battle Park or Madison St? Both are super sketchy.

Don't forget RR's other claim to fame...That guy who called the cops because people were stealing his weed every night. I feel bad for that dude though. He told them he would die without it and then he did die less than a month later.

Need to put together a list of sweet things to do around Atlantic Beach/Emerald Isle/Harkers Island etc in a couple of weeks. Staying at Atlantic Beach. Don't mind doing some driving or spending some cash.
- Spend an afternoon on Bear Island
- Big Rock Tournament in Beaufort
- Take a ferry or paddle to Shackleford Banks
- Get crunk on the beach at Atlantic Beach
- ?
