Is this where people are posting jobs now?

One of my co-workers mentioned he was looking for someone and I thought TWW would be a good place to ask. I don't have the job posting but I'm assuming he's looking for a mid- level Control Systems Engineer.

Basic description
Establish basic design and specifications for control systems and associated instrumentation.
Experience with DCS graphics, database and configuration (Honeywell and Delta V preferred), Familiarity with P&ID’s, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, Functional Narratives, and Cutovers/loop checks
Experience with PLC / HMI Programming

I just got a job offer from a manufacturing company for a project engineer position. Of course, the offer is contingent on a background check. My credit is kinda in the shitter, but I don't have a criminal record. I'm still really worried. I really need this job.

I've had 2 nursing interviews this past week and I'm hoping someone comes through with an offer. Same hospital system, different units. I'd prefer the higher acuity one, but as a new graduate I can't be picky.

Still working as a lab manager 20 hours/week. Bored as usual, but I can't pass up the money, the hours or the autonomy. It's going to be a reality shock to start working in a new field after 6-7 years, although I'm ready for the change and to start stacking the $$. (Yeah, nurses don't make a lot compared to some fields, but it sure beats the $30K I was making as a lab tech).

At what point should I give up waiting on a job offer from a company? Here's the scenario:

Sent email to hiring manager that I had applied.
Received response 4 minutes later inviting me to an interview two days later
Actually interviewed a week later (out of town job)
Spent 5 hours at interview, felt it went very well
Manager said she'd send me follow up testing materials next day, had to bug her for 2 weeks to get it.
Didn't hear anything for a week or two
Found out an employee was leaving and they had to fill his job first
Found out his job had been filled.
Still waiting.

It's been nearly 2 months. When I speak to the hiring person, she seems positive. She tells me I'm still in the running, to keep bugging her, and that she will keep me in the loop. I am always the one to initiate contact. I last spoke to her two weeks ago. Since then, I have sent three emails and called once with no response to any of them. She misses a lot of emails due to the volume she receives, so I usually resend if there is no response. Do I have any hope of getting this job? I'm so tired of being in limbo

pretty much right here for me i stop caring. I've had some that i felt "didn't go well" or "went well" regardless, i either get an offer that day or immediately by the end of the week depending on who else they have in queue. If no communication, move on, regardless of how i "feel".

You should stop wasting your time.

I kind of agree. If someone is serious about hiring they're usually not going to dick around. Usually if you're a strong candidate they will explicitly tell you what the process will be and stick to what they say ie "We do have 2 interviews next week and we'll contact you blah blah blah"

not to shit on your enthusiasm.

You probably won't get a response if you wrote like that on your application.

If anyone might be interested in an entry-level full-time paid internship in nanoparticle technology in RTP, we're hiring:

Research experience helps, but isn't mandatory

PM me if you're interested, or apply through the link

First date of unemployment. Went out day drinking on Friday. Half of my old coworkers are trying to jump shit asap. Found it pretty amusing. Still waiting on my last check.

Got a question for the "pros"

I was on UE for right at 6 months before I went back to work. I was at the new job (which was absolutely awful) for about 4 months before I got let go. Filed for UE again and it was granted under the Federal EUC program. I lost that on 7/1 thanks to that new Bill passed in NC that cut the EUC program.

So here's the question. I know that the maximum to draw state benefits is 6 months. Is that 6 months in a 12 month period, or is that 6 months period? My benefit year ended 7/7, so can I file a new claim and be eligible for state benefits for another 6 months? I'm starting a new job in August so it's not a huge deal, but it would really help to have a little income between now and then. I have called the UE office a couple times to ask, but the hold times were ridiculous.

Follow-up to my question a few posts up. I bit the bullet and went to the ESC office. I'm glad I did, I was approved for 26 more weeks. At least that gives me a little piece of mind in case this job in August falls through.

my federal contract ends Sept. 1 and with the budget cutbacks I doubt I'll get extended / hired FTE.

Had a phone interview with NYU on Thursday. It's probably a long shot but man I'd love to take that job - should hear back today if they fly me in for phase two.

...How insane is it to join the military...more likely the reserves...at 30?

Are you any more likely to get a position that you want, especially with a degree already in a related field?

I have really got to get out of what I'm doing - the pay is shit and the job is shittier with absolutely zero chance for advancement.
