the best thing about electric blankets is that the bed is already warm when you get in

Too hot? There are 10 settings, I keep it at like a 4, depending on how cold the room is

I also have a fan blowing, for noise

Winner.

Don't get me wrong -- I love lots of blankets too. We normally turn the heat off at night (heck, we normally don't run it at all). Apartment gets nice and chilly, bed stays warm. I like to open the windows when it gets extra cold outside, too.

i sleep under a sheet and two blankets in the winter. i run a fan for noise too. i never get the slightest bit cold at night. an electric blanket at any setting other than off would make me too hot.

OMG PPLS LIKE THINGS DIFFERENT THAN ME!?!?

[Edited on December 18, 2008 at 3:14 PM. Reason : and that material they make them out of is itchy as hell. like a cheap amtrak blanket]

All electric blankets I know of are made to be used like this:

Your body > sheet > electric blanket > whatever.

They aren't designed to be next to your skin.

yeah, sheets don't move. there's no way that electric blanket could possibly touch my skin throughout the course of a night.

I like to have it on when I get in bed during the winter -- helps warm me up. If it's on for any length of time I'll get too hot and sweat. Yuck...

If the blanket is itchy to your skin at the slightest touch, you must have some sensitivity condition

Or you're using some bo-bo brand

Walmart Sunbeam ftw
