i had read that the director/producers were going for more no-name actors as the main cast than trying to get bigger names from other franchises. rumor was that Ashley Greene wanted to be Katniss but was told no because of her affiliation with Twilight. they wanted to go with someone more up-and-coming. so i would think they would do the same with the 2 other books. plus i got the impression that Finnick was a big guy, not some scrawny pale looking vampire with unwashed hair.

I like that idea. The article I read had Mila Kunis as Johanna and Peter Facinelli as Betee and Betty White as Mags...

So, I doubt the veracity of the article I read. Either that, or the producer is outside of his mind.

It's not that... at least not for me. It's that Rob Pattison sucks as an actor, and this character has great depth and needs to be pulled off correctly, and RP can't do that. Has nothing to do with reusing a Twilight character.

Game of Thrones was awesome. But I'm having a hard time getting into book #2 so far. But I think it's because I can only read for 5 minutes here and there, and it's not a casual read kind of book.

^keep going! Book 2 is really good and book 3 is neck and neck with book 1 for my favorite in the series. They are definitely long but worth it imo.

ya I'm not sure I want to read book 2. I mostly read book 1 just to have a better understanding of the characters and their relationships. watching the show without having read a book can be pretty confusing at times. it was really good but seriously long. people tell me three is the best though (so far)

I think the main thing that makes me like AGOT better than any other book in the series is that it is a great standalone story. It's a pretty great story culminated by a plot twist that, to me, was about as big as the Darth Vader and Luke babydaddy twist. It leaves you wanting to know a lot more, but at the same time that book basically serves as 1 long, awesome prologue. For some reason it had this sort of heavy, haunting vibe to it that really stuck with me.

ASOS is an awesome book as well with the 2nd biggest plot-twist in the series so far but I definitely have some nostalgia attached to Book 1 still. Today, I personally would probably rank them: 1>3>2>5>4

From a TV show perspective, I'm convinced they could find a good way to condense Book 4 and 5 into 1 season, especially if they had 12 episodes (which I doubt they would get for funding reasons though).
