Peacemaker is average at best. Sweet Josie though, is the Tits-McGillicutty. Easily beats out Workingman's Lunch and Bad Penny for Best Triangle Area Brown Ale.

Anyone care to nominate a contender for Best Triangle Area IPA? My vote goes to Raleigh Brewing's House of Clay.

Foothills just announced the release date of their Barrel Aged Sexual Chocolate. September 7th. 8am.

Anyone planning on being there? I have a buddy in Florida that really wants me to ship him some so I'm gonna try to get my hands on a few bottles.

The new batch of Stone Enjoy By IPA is out, I snagged some bottles from Tasty Beverage. They had probably 10 cases of it but I imagine it's flying off the shelves.

Are any of you guys into Flemish "Sour" Ales? If so, I have 6 bottles I'd like to get rid of. Definitely not my thing.

love quality bargain beers. Picked up a few Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate today. $3 each. Good price even for that.

I don't drink it on a regular basis, but I like it for what it is and especially at the price. Also, my father-in-law loved the one I let him try before so I figured I'll bring at least one of them with me on a future visit.

Things like ST Creme Brulee or ST Choklat or this...I only have them once in awhile and really only a single glass or so but I definitely enjoy them as "dessert" beers.

I fucking love heavy stouts and porters. I love the Choklats/Crème Brulee stouts as well...but mostly as desert beers...definitely not with any entrée and definitely not during the middle of the summer.

All that being said...having a few Enjoy Bys this evening. Defuckinglicious.

all my heavy stouts are certainly being saved for cooler weather. I tend to buy them year round just to stock up as I see things I like.

Also, I've been meaning to try Enjoy By

Man...I had two Enjoy bys the other night. Had a great night.

I too am a huge heavy stout/porter fan. Stocking up for cold weather now. It's going to be a horribly caloric winter. I have...

2 Westbrook Mexican Cake
2 Evil Twin Even More Jesus
3 Evil Twin Biscotti Break (if you like ST Creme Brulee find this one)
4 Evil Twin Lil' B
3 Stone Russian Imp Stout
3 Stone Espresso Russian Imp Stout
7 Cigar City Marshal Zhukovs
10 Terrapin Wake 'N Bake left over from last year

Anyone going to the Foothills BB aged Sexual Chocolate release?

I didn't like the biscotti break for some reason. Wish I could remember why, because I was really pumped about it. I honestly couldn't finish it.

my normally bar cabinet is overflowing with beer atm. I'm starting to take up kitchen cabinets I guess I need to start drinking faster haha. I have tons of stouts and belgians saved up for the fall and winter though - that's when I really start to burn through them.

You guys got me excited about the enjoy by but I got a pint last night and was not impressed. Maybe its one of the rare brews that are better in the bottle than tapped but there were several people that were not very impressed (maybe they got a bad keg or something?). I did get the chance to try Stone's Farking Wheaton WootStout. That was good enough for 2 pints with dinner. I seriously wish they'd hurry with the growler regs so I could have taken one home.

I run year round basically for the sole reason of keeping my beer consumption up...well and I really like running, but that's not important, atm. I could maintain my weight w/o much exercise on my food intake...but the beer puts it over the mark.

Oh and 4/5 of the bombers will be split with my GF...

That's how I feel about the ST Creme Brulee. Despised it.

I'll have to try the biscotti break. I loved the creme brulee, but certainly in a small serving. Definitely a 750 that I split several ways when I open it.

if i was in Raleigh i'd take them just so they wouldn't get drain poured.

What didn't you like about these? Were they too "vinegary" for you? That's a trait for a lot of these flemish and sour red/browns. I wouldn't turn away completely from sours. Give something like Petrus Golden Ale a try. The blonde/golden sours tend to be more of a dry tart sour than the browns.

Yes, they taste like carbonated vinegar, to me. I've tried to acquire the taste for them, but I can't get past a couple of mercy sips. I hate to waste beer, but I know I'm never going to drink them.

I'll have to try those maybe. I absolute hate anything with a vinegar taste so the few I've had were nearly all disgusting (to me) as well. Pretty much the same boat as hypaone.

Speaking of heavy stouts...having an Evil Twin Even More Than Jesus imperial stout right now....phew! This thing is thick and delicious. Hides the 12% really well.

Don't believe I have had the regular Briscotti Break, but I have had the Imperial Biscotti Break and it is quite amazing. It also makes a pretty good black and tan with Maharajah.

I went down to Westbrook last weekend in Mt. Pleasant. They're definitely a solid brewery, but One Claw is the best rye pale ale I've ever had. I picked up a six pack that was canned the day before and the freshness was out of this world.

Had this last night. What a ridiculously thick stout. Crazy good. Split the bottle with the GF last night, but next time I'm going to have a whole one.

Got a few more bottles on the way too.

Been drinking a ton of the One Claw and Lagunitas Lil Sumpin Sumpin. Really like the Sumpin Sumpin. Not usually a fan of wheat beers, but this one is more like an IPA. And I can get it at my corner store!

Gizmo is terrible. It's the old Roth Brewing Co. and they've made almost zero attempt to improve or distance themselves from the inferior reputation.

So I'm hearing that NC ABC won't approve Dogfish Head Punkin Ale's label and that Dogfish Head is pulling the beer from NC now to distribute elsewhere...

If true, NC ABC can DIAF. It's long past time to reform that outdated commission.

Anyone seen Punkin in NC?
