The heck?

GOP was doing better than the Democrats on the state level and now they're gonna ruin that for themselves too by acting like idiots.

One concerning detail from this article is that there are plans in place to implement these changes, regardless of whom the next Republican president might be.

The most ridiculous thing about any of these nimrods trying to impart totalitarian rule is that they don't even offer any possibility that the trains would EVER run on time.

It's just "let us be in charge so we can break everything."

This in the same day that a GOP Senator tries to fight the Teamsters leader on the floor of the Senate. In fairness, that was being a total cunt too, but you can’t try to fight people on the floor of the Senate.

There was that guy who beat someone to a pulp with his cane in the House though

the guy who caned the other guy resigned though, in order to let his constituents decide whether his actions were good or not. you won't find that today. people need to be connected with their communities to be held accountable.

LOL at the would-be fight and being broken up or otherwise controlled by Bernie Sanders.

Those two turds should put something together outside Congress.

Why do the hard right members of Congress want to release the Jan 6 footage? Seems like that would be harmful, not helpful.

Because there are more than enough conspiracy-tinged nutjobs in their base at this point who will have nothing better to do than to pour through this footage and take shit out of context so that rational folks will have to spend the next 79years swatting their bullshit away

The chair of Florida's Republican Party says he will not resign over a woman's allegation that he raped her....

His wife co-founded the conservative group Moms for Liberty, which has led a campaign with Gov. Ron DeSantis to roll back sex education in Florida schools....

The police avadavits saying that the Zieglers had group sex with a woman have led Democrats and gay rights leaders to accuse the couple of hypocrisy, given that an organization Bridget Ziegler cofounded — Moms for Liberty — has joined DeSantis and the Florida GOP in pushing back against LGBTQ+ causes....
...
According to text messages cited in the affidavit, the woman and the Zieglers had planned to again have group sex on Oct. 2, but the woman backed out after Bridget Ziegler “couldn't make it.”

This is fkin absurd. It's delusion. This is the product of people in the rural parts of the North putting up Confederate flags.

A dearth and death of common sense. Post-truth politics is mainstream, and well, has been.
Which is why, whatever your views, I think it is more important than ever to start emphasizing local community. I don't see anything wrong with the pledge of allegiance.

Whatever it is, establish some commonalities, but first, and most importantly -- don't let the GOP think this is a winning platform. Beat them.

Iowans really identify with Trump. Living up to the stereotype of being a bunch of dumb farming bumpkins. Kicking back in their automated combine harvesters watching Fox News nonstop to get the fair and balanced perspective.

About half of them, sure. As far as midwestern states go it has its progressive moments. People who live in NC really have no business throwing stones.

Well, I don't live in NC. I don't want any state of rural hateful bumpkins making meaningful decisions for the rest of the country.

For example:

Iowa entrance poll: Most GOP caucusgoers don’t accept Biden’s 2020 win, say a conviction wouldn’t make Trump unfit for office

https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/15/politics/entrance-polls-iowa-caucuses/index.html

Quote :
"Most Iowa GOP caucusgoers refuse to accept President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory and say they would view former President Donald Trump, whom CNN projected will win the caucuses Monday night, as fit for office even if convicted of a crime, according to CNN’s entrance poll for the Iowa Republican presidential caucuses.

Trump’s victory highlights his strength among key groups that form the bulk of the GOP electorate, according to the entrance poll. Roughly half of Iowa caucusgoers described themselves as “very conservative,” and nearly half identified as part of the MAGA movement, referring to the “Make America Great Again” slogan popularized by Trump in 2016. Broad majorities in both of those groups broke for Trump, as did the lion’s share of White evangelicals and those age 65 and older.

The results also highlight the stark educational divide that has become a defining feature of the GOP electorate. While Trump held a commanding lead among Iowa caucusgoers without college degrees, college graduates were more closely divided among Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis."

Still loving the poorly educated!

More like a late night troubleshooting parental technology issues before returning to work from a long weekend. Posting angry screeds TWW at nearly 4:00 AM was my unwind before a 3-hour nap and a 2-hour drive.

Yes, SC where we clearly have room to throw stones against uneducated angry white country people!

I live in and have always lived in a rural area, but I don't take pride in stupidity, ignorance, or gullibility. I wish these traits weren't so closely linked to geography. Cities suck for other reasons. Rise up and overcome your geography, middle America!

^Parental technology is device upgrades, data migrations, and corresponding training for my increasingly aging parents.

The biggest time sink was configuring a new computer to try to work like one that was 18 years old, and migrating 67,000 photos through two progressive library formats.
