somethings going on in my single player game where no wagon will move...one mission i had to escort a wagon back to somewhere and i had to push it the entire way with my horse...the next few missions i had to either escort a wagon or drive one and it wouldnt budge more than a foot or so...fucking bullshit

i have a few people on my list from mw2 who are playing this but it seems everyone's in single player so there's no real reason to add anyone who plays this game. or is there?

this game is so much fun. Finally figured out poker and dueling, so I pretty consistently walk away with an extra ~$100 every time.

I do agree that I hate how easy it is to kill someone on your horse if you are riding through town.

You must slow down. You can't go tearing through town on a horse unless it's the middle of the night. I actually like this. Still looking for the 2nd treasure down in rio del lobos. I've lost like 3 horses to cougars and wolves down there.

it's in a weird place. are you matching up everything on screen that is shown on the map? once you walk between the gap in those two rocks you have will slide down a few feet, then you have to walk about 15-20 feet left on the ledge and slide down another ledge. the treasure is about 10 feet back to the right. if you drop all the way down to the base of the rock you've gone too far.

I'm on treasure #4...something about a big tree by a river...

This game is addicting....and frustrating at times, its hard to figure out who's chasing who sometimes in those random encounters in the desert.

Oh an I watched a guy crying over his dead wife then put a bullet in his brain...that was fucking hardcore

So i'm trying to close out the Treasure Hunters outfit and one of the scraps is achieved by clearing out the Gaptooth Breach hideout. However, each time i ride out to Gaptooth Breach it's just a quiet mining camp with a dozen or so miners wandering around. Is this the right place or am i looking for something else around the area?

I haven't found any treasures yet...got one treasure map though...I think I'm supposed to go to Hanging Rock or whatever

Also somebody on the xbox.com forums was saying if you have the wagon glitch that doesn't allow you to move a stage coach, wagon, etc, that you can clear out your console's cache and that usually fixes it

I got bored of GTASA for a little while then went back and finished it and played it to about 90%. This game is not a GTA with horses. It has so much more to do, so many wtf moments, the atmosphere it infinitely better, so many thing that really make you go after them. I said all of that, but if you really got tired of GTASA and never went back to it, that just might happen with this game, but its also a good chance that it won't happen.

***** SUPER SPOILER ALERT*****

Its part of a unique special encounter with a stranger. The encounter has several parts to it.

I loved GTASA and still do....still on my laptop when I need a break from work. By far the best GTA in the series....but I dont think its fair to compare RDR and SA....different games IMO because of the environment.

i find it a lot harder to veer off the "course" and become a bad guy in this game. There are just so many other things to do that I never find myself running around and killing random NPCs.

But it also seems like that when you die you don't lose money or any of your guns/provisions that you've acquired like you did in the GTA series. When playing the GTA series I always turned autosave off and saved the game prior to doing any huge public rampages just incase i did get caught or went down in a blaze of glory so i didn't find myself outside of the hospital or police station empty handed.

I have yet to be arrested in RDR, so i'm not sure what the punishment is for that, but it seems when you die it either loads your previous save or just sends you back to your closest safe house. Can anyone clarify?

Yep. Back to last save. Lost a lot of progress one time. Oddly, any objectives that you've picked up since your last save are still there (like strangers you've talked to).

I got my fame up to where it said witnesses and law enforcement won't report you until the first murder is committed...so I'm like ok, I can steal stuff without any problems...so I crack the safe in the bank at MacFarland Ranch and I get a bounty of like $10...I just stand there and get arrested...one day in the clink and I'm out free...and yeah I think I have all my money, weapons, ammo, etc

so it seems like there really aren't any consequences for getting arrested. death on the otherhand leads to loss of progress.

^^ Nah witnesses won't report you to cops for crimes less than murder, but cops will still go after you if they see you do it themselves.

^gotcha

^^its not even that bad...I've been killed many times, but I think you keep most of your stuff...for example I was out killing and skinning some wolves and I got run up on by about 10 other wolves and got killed...but when I checked my inventory I had the wolf pelts and hearts and meat that I had just gotten right before I was killed

also, here are the cheat codes for the game, stolen blatantly from a post on another board, like stealing a horse right out from under some fella's nose

Quote :
"*Please Note: When Activating a Cheat Code, saving the game and earning achievements will be temporarily disabled. To go back to saving and earning achievements all you have to do is reload your last save (the one before you activated cheats) and everything will be returned to normal.

Ok people, here are the Official Cheat Codes for Red Dead Redemption and how to activate them:

1. Pause the game and go into the "Options" setting.

2. Select "Cheats" in the options setting and press "Y" to begin entering a cheat.

3. Type the corresponding cheat code EXACTLY as it appears, including all capitalization, punctuation and exclamation points, if you enter them any other way, they will not work, make sure you double check your spelling before trying to entering a cheat. Once the cheat is entered, you will see it in a list with the other cheats you entered, when you want it on, switch it "on" and it will immediately begin working.

Lewis and Clark
Enter "YOU GOT YOURSELF A FINE PAIR OF EYES" as a code phrase to unlock all areas.

I'm pretty sure you do lose your progress since your last save, I know I lost like $200 worth skins one time when a cougar killed me, and this was early in the game when $200 was a big deal.

[Edited on May 24, 2010 at 2:54 PM. Reason : Maybe you had completed a challange and it autosaved that time the wolves killed you.]

yeah, what's the autosave like? I have it turned off, due to reasons stated above. but does it only save after certain objectives or events or is it a continual save kind of like assassin's creed or COD?

It appears to save when you complete missions or gain a level of any of your skill challenges or gain any criteria of outfits you're collecting.

what's the max number of shots you've taken at the bar? i took 5-6 at one time and didn't even make it out the door before falling over a table and onto the bar floor passing out for a solid 20-30 seconds

I don't play blackjack, hard to do more than break even.

Poker is fun and pretty easy to win if you're cheating. Liars dice is also easy, think I've only lost once and have played at least 15 games.
