Just learned that New Vegas will installed to steam even if you get a boxed copy (Kind of like the recent Total War games if anyone plays those). That's awesome, best of both worlds. I get the stuff from the box and a disc to install quickly, but I don't have to worry about keeping up with the disc.

I'll take four eyes and good natured for one of my characters.

Trigger discipline and built to destroy in another.

In fallout 1 and 2 Gifted was the god of traits. Gave you 7 extra ability points for the penalty of 5 fewer starting points per skill and 5 fewer skill points per level. But you could make up the difference just by adding 3 points to intelligence (plus you got the benefits of having a high INT), and you still had 4 free points to spend however you wanted.

If I wait 3 or 4 weeks to purchase, will that give them time to iron out the usual bugs that always happen upon release? Or does that shit usually get resolved months later?

First Fallout: New Vegas DLC to be Xbox 360-exclusive

* By Tor Thorsen, GameSpot
* Posted Oct 18, 2010 12:05 pm PT

Initial add-on will be released on Xbox Live this holiday season; PC, PS3 release plans unclear.

After Fallout 3 was released in October 2008, the post-apocalyptic role-playing game was followed by five expansion packs--all of which debuted on the Xbox 360 and PC. Now, it appears publisher Bethesda Softworks is taking a similar approach with downloadable add-ons for the latest Fallout game, New Vegas.

In an announcement this morning, Bethesda revealed the first expansion for Fallout: New Vegas would debut on Xbox Live "this holiday season." No further details were given about the expansion other that it would be "exclusive to Xbox Live." It is unclear if the exclusivity is limited to consoles or also means there will be no PC add-ons as well.

When asked for clarification, a Bethesda spokesperson would only say, "All we have announced thus far is that the first DLC is exclusive to Xbox Live. Additional info will be forthcoming in the next few weeks."

Fallout: New Vegas' expansions will debut exclusively on Xbox Live starting this holiday season.

"We're excited to continue the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft, and build on the success of the game add-ons released for Fallout 3 on Xbox Live," said Bethesda Softworks' vice president of marketing and PR Pete Hines.

If the expansions for New Vegas follow the same scheme as Fallout 3's, they will be released every few months on Xbox Live over the next year. Bethesda eventually did also release them on the PlayStation Network, and then included all five expansions in the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition in late 2009. Whether the Maryland-based publisher has something similar planned for New Vegas is unclear.

Developed by many veterans of the original Fallout games at Obsidian Entertainment (Alpha Protocol), New Vegas is set in the Mojave Wasteland and casts players in the role of a courier who gets shot in the head over a package and is left for dead. After recovering, players will be free to roam the desert, exploring new areas and modifying weapons. They will also get wrapped up in the larger conflict between the New California Republic and the slave-trading Caesar's Legion, based out of the former casino Caesar's Palace.

New Vegas will feature a bevy of voice talent, including Mr. Las Vegas himself, Wayne Newton. Other actors on board include Danny Trejo (Machete), Kris Kristofferson (Blade), Felicia Day (The Guild), and Matthew Perry (Friends). Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) will once again be the game's narrator, and Michael Dorn (Star Trek: The Next Generation) will reprise his role as Marcus, the intelligent mutant from Fallout 2.

For more information on New Vegas, check out GameSpot's previous coverage or the mini-documentary on the game's art direction below. "

FYI small guns is replaced with "Guns"

They got rid of big guns and split it between guns and energy weapons. Most went to guns but the flamer and incinerator went to energy weapons.

Dropped by Toys R Us about an hour ago for the 10 dollar gift card/strategy guide deal. The Cary Crossroads location is known for their mongoloid workforce, so I was thinking I may be able to pull of an advanced copy. I underestimated the level of mongoloid-ism. The two employees I spoke with not only attempted to sell me Fallout 3 twice, but also were unaware if New Vegas would even be in the store tomorrow.

"Let’s Get Glitched in Vegas

Perhaps the biggest, most substantive criticism of Fallout: New Vegas is that it’s glitchy. Not just annoying so, but utterly, game-breakingly glitchy. In a massive, marathon play-through (before the game’s official launch), the game crashed five times in a 26 hour period, often in the middle of the action during vital moments.

Quest markers were placed in random locations totally unassociated with the active quest. Mailboxes transformed into distending, amorphous blobs that moved about the environment and were identified as Radscorpions. Townsfolk and enemies floated above the ground, often passing through each other. Key characters ran off into the wilderness for no discernable reason, directly to their deaths at the hands of the local bestiary. Several times, my character was whisked away on a train ride to The Strip when he wasn’t even on the train.

These aren’t small, insignificant problems, and while issues with a game as massive as this are to be expected, there’s an obvious lack of quality control here for a property with the Bethesda brand stamped across the front.

Honestly, this does is not surprising, and is not that bad. It hardly anything to complain about. Nothing here is game-breaking or unpatchable. I have seen similar gameplay and graphical glitches in Fallout 3 just the same.

You can certainly complain about it but it's not keeping me from buying the game.

Bugs are a fallout standard, from fallout 1 through 3.

I never really experienced any notable bugs in Fallout 3. I guess I got lucky.

As long as there are no bugs where a scripted event never happens and the game truly is in a state where you can't progress and have to start over. Stalker was terrible for bugs like that.

Just do alternating saves. I do it in most games these days so I only have to replay an hour at most.

^^I had about 10 alternating saves in Stalker and it never helped with the scripting bugs.

Anyway, most of what I'm reading is that the game has severe FPS issues with GT/GTX Nvidia cards. I'm also hearing that the new drivers released by Nvidia yesterday help in most cases, but not all cases.

yeah same here. lol But I too remember the fallout 3 glitches, but didn't think they were game killer bugs, just annoying in some ways. I've had it crash on me quite a few times and hoped that they would at least have those simple issues fixed, but I'm sure I would probably still enjoy this game throughly.

Planning to head by toys r' us after work to grab this...someone please post if they happen to run out of copies, or are being dicks about honoring the guide/$10 deal.

Luckily, I just finished overtime mode in Dead Rising 2, which makes me feel a little less guilty for abandoning that game for the foreseeable future.

IGN hasn't posted their review, but their UK site gave it a 9.0/10 on the improved rating scale, plus an editor's choice award.
