I don't know the entirety of the ACC's financial situation, but from poking around on the site I linked to earlier, it looks like most programs are losing cash fast. State lost more than $1m last year. Moving to the SEC wouldn't solve that -- Auburn, for instance, lost nearly half a mil last year.

Ahhh, as much as I despise UNC and Duke, I'd much rather play them multiple times a year than be in another conference. Even if their damn alum is the worst conference commissioner ever. I mean, I've thoroughly enjoyed whooping the heels in football the past 4 years. Would hate to lose that good times feelin'.

But either way, the point was made, the SEC ain't lookin at State. We aren't gonna have the choice. Nope, we're gonna be stuck scrambling trying to poach two decent schools from other leagues. UConn wouldn't be bad. Probably be tough to get anyone out of the Big East at this point though...

I agree the ACC is in more trouble than it realizes. It's too close to the SEC for it to escape unscathed if the SEC is seeking expansion which inherent in expanding is you're seeking greater power in the college sports landscape. Part of being Ireland is you're next to Britain which for a few hundred years was a world power. Even if you improve a bit, they're the behemoth that'll overwhelm you. We're Ireland and the SEC is Britain.

I'm afraid they're going to look northeast and we're going to be left with something nominally called the ACC but is more just an ACC/Big East football merger, which is going to be more of why everyone hates BC being in the league. Or the ACC could be the ones ransacked. Maryland's apparently broke. Wake and BC bring little to the table. Duke only matters in basketball otherwise they'd've already been jettisoned to Conference USA. Miami's only a big deal down there when they're winning which they haven't in awhile. GT have no fanbase. In a post-Clemson and FSU leaving scenario, you have to say everything would be on the table.
