I was just looking for a little input from a mechanic or avid Toyota owner.
Yesterday I learned that the leg room in a Camry is nearly identical to that of an Avalon. Therefore, I'll probably buy a Camry and save $200.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Toyota/comments/aibuuw/looking_to_buy_a_camry_is_there_any_years_i/
Take all internet opinion links with a grain of salt, but not every single Toyota vehicle coming out of the factory is perfect.
Given the choice of...say an equally equipped 2015 Chevrolet Malibu for $13,000 or a 2015 Camry with the same mileage for $15,000, I'll take the Camry 9 times out of 10.

because the camry and avalon are almost they same mechanically, i'd pay the extra 200 for whats not almost the same interior experience

^ Are you referring to ride quality, fit and finish, or options, like adaptive cruise control, heated and cooled seats, etc?
I have test driven two Camry's and I really like the seats on the 7th gens. I attempted to test drive an Avalon, but it was still out for dealer refurbishment, whatever bs that entails.

FINALLY, seller received the title for that M3P. Just booked shipping; waiting for them to set up pickup/delivery times. Hopefully a matter of days now.

It's gonna be close, whether I get the Tesla first, or whether the Insight hits 345,678 on the odometer first. I think it's gonna be the Tesla...but I won't sell the Insight until I hit that mileage, haha.

I didn't slang that much cash.

I mean...it was the most I've ever spent on a car, but since the previous high was $26k for an Evo IX, that isn't saying too much. I'm sure what I spent on this was way less than that if you account for inflation since 2007 (?) when I bought the Evo.

I think Craigslists is pretty close to dead.

Man, I scored a bunch of awesome deals on CList over the years.

It's sad, I refuse to and won't make an account on facebook marketplace.

I really like craigslist. Simple and does what it needs to, nothing more, nothing less. No extra data to collect, pure functionality and purpose.

But yeah, compared to FB, maybe 10% of the available stuff.

all of the above. the avalon is a slightly stretched camry frame for more interior space and then a bunch of nicer creature comforts and finishes than the camry but not quite lexus ES level.

Why, you're only making things more difficult. I've sold 4 cars on FB marketplace, and purchased 3 on there. For better or worse it's one of the best methods right now. I've listed cars on Autotrader and the only parties that reached out to me were dealerships (notorious lowballers). If you list a car on craigslist these days you'll instantly be flooded with scammers. It's insane.

^I've only been on the buying side for big items, I've only ever sold household items. so I wasn't aware of it being that bad.

Perhaps I was being too ideological there, but I just really like how craigslist is one of those places where you don't really have to reveal your identity or engage with big tech, just sell/buy and go on. in this age I guess with all the bots and tech, maybe it is too much to ask for. facebook, sure make a fake account or whatever, but eh. I guess back in the day you also had your address and phone number and all in those big books, so it's not like we were ever anonymous among our communities

Despite Facebook being evil, I like FB marketplace. Scammers are easy to spot.
I have sold a tractor using it and may be buying my first car off of there.

need 1, maybe 2 new vehicles.
need a 3 row, ideally PHEV because we do lots of small drives but it'll be the family hauler so we have to make the occasional long drive. could make pure ev work. I'm getting a new trailer for my race car, so something that could tow 6k+ would be ideal.

considering getting a truck to replace my nissan leaf that I use as a golf cart at the race track. it makes short to intermediate drives, but a truck would be helpful in that it could tow the trailer I mentioned as well as for in town truck needs. I'd love a lightning or some other ev truck, but the towing range sucks. a phev or rev truck would be the absolute best, but finding one with 6000+lbs towing seems currently impossible. so maybe 2 separate vehicles?

so the cars im thinking of are
xc90 recharge
ford lightning
nissan titan
ford ranger

"The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban with the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 21 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for the 2WD model, and 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway for the 4WD model.
Some say the diesel's efficiency may be underestimated by the EPA numbers, depending on driving conditions. For example, one reviewer noted that the Suburban's trip computer showed 32.3 mpg on a 45-mile backroads drive. Another reviewer said that the diesel Suburban got over 750 miles of range on a tank of fuel."

how bout it

i don't want a diesel, especially a modern one. hard to find quality fuel, fuel costs a fortune in the city compared to gas, and the vehicle is going to sit a lot. the reason im after a phev is because I take lots of short drives and a modern DI engine hates such things, not really for mpg reasons.

theDuke866 mentioned the ramcharger a few posts up. Jeep is supposed to put that exact drivetrain in the Wagoneer in 2025. That’s 3 rows and like a 10k lb tow limit (plus no need for a weighted tag in NC?).
