I need to know my SS number urgently for something. I left the US 9 years ago, so I don't remember it perfectly. I do remember it, but I am only 95% sure it is correct.

Is there any way to find out SS numbers? Hackers?

Can anybody help pleeeeeeese?

Thanks.

If you were still in the credit system - it is possible for a person with access to said credit system to pull the information without your social security number (information should still be there if it was recorded for up to 10 years - even though it wouldn't affect your score at that point). My access to such information is limited such that I couldn't view your SSN if I didn't use it as an input though - someone else may be able to.

thats what i'd do though, just call someone who in the past gave you a W2 or 1090 and see if your record is still in their system

***-**-****

seriously though, getting in touch with a former employer may be your best bet

the us government will not help you verify if you remember your ssn right or not. they'll only help you replace the card or give you a new number

Did you know that TWW filters out numbers in the format of a SS number? Yeah, it's a feature to protect privacy. See, I typed my SS number below.

xxx-xx-xxxx

And all you see are Xes.

Try it yourself.

my only employers were my undergrad and grad schools.

i guess i could call the graduate department secretary (@ NCSU) and ask her? (i was a teaching assistant, so she would be able to see that in her records)

This is what you get for abandoning your country. I hope this endeavor is incredibly inconvenient for you.

i did pay taxes on my TA earnings... i might have some old W-2 in my papers from 10 years ago. All the papers from that time are in boxes at my parents' place. I guess I should make a trip tomorrow to their place. What about transcripts... do they list the SS#? Cuz I remember I have some old transcripts in the boxes as well.

"my country"?

i don't know what my country is supposed to be, and which country i abandoned.

what i remember:

104-85-8816

so, any hackers around?

Your country has just been assigned as Burkina-Faso. It has also been declared that you abandoned Kyrgystan.

For your reference.

Depends if the school uses SS# as student ID # as well. Any university that gives a shit about identity theft no longer does that. At least I haven't run across any transcripts still doing that this admissions season.

ok, just searched my emails from 2006 for 15 minutes, and found this in an email i sent this to my department secretary.

Quote :
"SS No.: I did not fill it in as I am not sure about the last digit.
It is either 058 86 8862 or 058 86 8863. This can be verified from my
university records."

the one i posted up is a mix of my ss# and my current bank account #... getting old, memory not as good as it used to be. although now when i say the ss# it rolls off my tongue as if i have always known it. the one ending in 2 sounds more natural to me, that is probably it.

seriously what can happen? i am not a us citizen, and i haven't been in the us for 9 years.

dude do you really have access to the system? if so, can you check the 2 numbers i gave in this post? that would seriously save me a trip to my parents' tomorrow and digging through boxes i haven't opened in several years! thanks!

as for my bank account number, there is no way to decipher it from what i have posted. ss#? see quote above, and answer my question (serious).

^ they are very dusty by now and my parents are too old ... wouldn't want to put them through it. the boxes are pretty heavy (papers, books, mags) and need to be moved before they can be opened.
