Leslie is coming back.

Between Harris, Amile and Young, if we have 2 of those guys on the team next year, our frontcourt depth will be solid. A little light at the 5, but we will have 3 skilled reserve forwards with upside, who can step in when Leslie / Howell need a break. Any meaningful contribution we get from Vandy and/or TDT will be gravy.

I still think that Howell is on the rise and on a path to be somebody great. He is one of the most intriguing aspects out of next season, because I really don't think that anyone else will develop more than him.

If leslie comes back and jefferson signs, I wouldn't have a damn problem with harris wanting to transfer. That pretty much eliminates him ever getting meaningful minutes here.

He doesn't need sense talked into him.

I think Zo could but I agree that Howell could definitely develop into an NBA level talent.

^^ It's a bit of a reach, but Howell has phenomenal hands and a developing offensive game.

Why couldn't Howell play in the NBA? He is strong, has good hands, has developed a good post game, and can rebound.

He needs to learn how to shoot a consistent jumper but with another year of Gottfried, I don't see why he couldn't.

I mean if Dennis Horner can make a team, why can't Howell? I'm not saying he's going to be an all-star but I don't see why it's impossible.

i think his 6'8" is a stretch even for basketball numbers.

it's not impossible, but he's got a lot of work to do this summer on his perimeter game. like, a whole whole lot. and he has to get quicker. it's going to be really hard.

at one point during our tourney run nbadraft.net had howell projected as a first round pick in 2013

howell making an nba team is not that much of a stretch

Howell sticking in the league will probably be more about luck and opportunity than skill. There are hundreds of 6'7" guys with his skillset that come out every year. He's not the most talented, and he's certainly not the least talented. In the right situation, he could be a poor man's Dejaun Blair. But on a team that already has size, he's struggle to see the floor.

I could see Howell as a potential bench guy for a team that doesn't have much front court depth. He's an elite rebounder and I can definitely see that carrying over to the NBA. If he continues to develop that mid range jumper and works on his defense there is no reason he couldn't fit into an NBA rotation. With all that said though, it's much more likely that he goes on to average 15/10 for some euroleauge team.

Howell is likely not an NBA'er but he's got a chance. He's got the rebounding/size to be an undersized PF/C like Chuck Hayes or Dejuan Blair.

He's actually got some ball handling and some perimeter ability. He'd have to develop his outside game quite a bit though and he'd have to get a lot better defensively.

Steal rates and rebound rates in college is one of the best predictors of future NBA success and his steal rate is virtually the same as Leslie's and his rebound rate is higher.

I think he COULD be a 2nd round pick with another solid season, whether that means he makes the roster I don't know just too many variables.

Richard Howell lives off points inside the arc. I doubt he gets those in the NBA.

He doesn't shoot threes at all. That's his main weakness offensively.

Defensively he is horrid.

He is hopelessly short and has zero depth.

Most of Kansas' players this year were bench warmers last year, including Robinson and Withey.

We gotta start convincing lottery picks to ride the pine.

Damn.

I enjoyed your posts more when I imagined that you created a bunch of crazy formulae and plugged every player's stats and minutes into the face algorithm.

Kinda like how I enjoyed Slave Famous's posts a lot more when I thought he was a skinny black dude named Slavelle.

We # 7!!!!

Quote :
"7. NC State

How did this happen so fast? Is North Carolina State really the ACC favorite? Why not. North Carolina and Duke are taking on serious losses, and the Wolfpack overachieved under Mark Gottfried to get to the Sweet 16. C.J. Leslie still hasn't said for sure whether he's returning (he has until the NBA's April 29 deadline). If he doesn't, perhaps they move down a notch or two. But Gottfried has one of the top recruiting classes in the country coming in with Rodney Purvis, T.J. Warren and Tyler Lewis. So with or without Leslie, this program has a lot to look forward to."
