Steele has NC State improving by 1.5 games.

I would definitely take that!

does he have any thoughts on when Tennessee might get over that 1 win hump in conference play?

so weird that you people keep bringing up Tennessee stuff in totally unrelated threads... but since you did, I could see them getting over it if the SEC was full of teams like State, they seemed to handle them pretty easily last year, but alas, the SEC has powerhouses like Vandy and Miss State.

That system is broken if Auburn and SoMiss are meant to improve by 8 and 10 games respectively.

guess this is the best place to put this...

just a heads up that the NCSU surplus sale has game-used jerseys for $75. the 2004-2007ish era ones with the contrasting sleeve detail (see pics) and the white/away versions of the current ones (w/ nameplates). when i left, they had guys like mattes, slay, wentz, maddox, cato-bishop, m. carter, cristophe, etc.

also had some soccer jerseys for $10 each.

pics are kinda big so i'll just link: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BJLk96WCUAAq0z8.jpg
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BJ0qGvdCYAI4k8m.jpg

oh and here's the twitter feed for the surplus sale that has some other info: https://twitter.com/NCSUSurplus

Tavares Copeland (WR transfer from WVU) won't have to sit a season and is cleared to play this fall.

article on whitehead

Quote :
"Kenderius Whitehead has left North Carolina State and will this season at a junior college.

Whitehead was expected to be a contributor this fall, but instead will play the 2013 season at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound speed rusher arrived with big expectations. Considered the top recruit in N.C. State’s 2012 recruiting class, he chose the Wolfpack over Georgia and Clemson following a fierce recruiting battle.

Whitehead redshirted last season, but his status on the team was somewhat of a mystery.

Fans were relieved when Whitehead’s name appeared on the pre-spring roster, but he returned home to Lithonia, Ga. just before the start of spring ball to deal with “personal issues.”

Whitehead arrived at GMC on Sunday, and is enrolled in summer school and working out with the team. He should be able to transfer back to a D-I school in January, but he’s unsure if that will be N.C. State or elsewhere.

“I really don’t know what I’m going to do right now,” Whitehead said in a telephone interview on Wednesday. “I’m just taking it one day at a time and I’m focused on where I’m at right now. I want to help the GMC Bulldogs win a championship this season.

“I’ll think about Division I football when the season here is over.”

Whitehead helped Martin Luther King High to a 12-2 record with 103 tackles and 16 sacks as a senior. He led the state of Georgia in sacks and was 34th nationally"

This made me think about Smith getting facemasked by USC. Doesn't that seem like 10 years ago?

^^^I'm a little unclear as to how they are suggesting State fucked up in that situation. Obviously firing someone who is sick looks bad, but there is very little job security for football coaches regardless of health situations, that's just the nature of the beast. Also the wife talking about how all their eggs are in the shirt company basket rings a little hollow when her husband has been making six figures for over a decade.

that depends... they may have paid a ton in medical bills. i don't know the whole situation.. i do wonder if there are bits to this story missing here: was he fired separately from the rest of the staff that was let go specifically because he was sick? the video implies that. it'd be horrible if true. i may have missed it, but did they even mention the coaching change (which usually means a staff flush)? it almost feels like they went for the sob story angle and were afraid to give context to his firing.

Someone posted on packpride that TOB kept him on staff long enough to qualify him for Medical Benefits through the retirement system. So yes, NC State just fired him and said "good luck, so long". Good reporting CBS

Also, a non-coaching position was made for him. James Brown is a pos.

We're going to surprise some people this year. Doeren is too good a coach for us to just flat out suck and while we're replacing a lot of players - it's mainly average TOB players replacing other, average TOB players. With the exception of Glennon, the team isn't much different from last season.

I thought we would suck with TOB coaching us this year because he'd have a worse version of Glennon at QB but Doeren isn't going to have that. Unless Mitchell is just total trash he'll do fine in the ACC (this is a conference that makes Tajh Boyd look like a golden god) and we also got that WR from West Va eligible and some decent front 7 defenders.

7 wins is what I'd predict but I really wouldn't be surprised if we do even better considering how awful our schedule is and the chance that Mitchell could be a very good 1 year QB.

I'm not an expert on NFL QBs but aren't most of them able throw the ball more than 5 yards at a time.

Like the author, I think that Tom Creecy will help in our running game.

really not putting much stock into this. it came from a Miami blog. and the writer fails to even mention Brandon Mitchell as the potential starter at QB...along with a handful of other mistakes just on the State section.

Not bad, I guess he didn't include Russell Wilson as a former player in the NFL since he played for Wisconsin before the draft.
