Motor Trend declared the Carrera 4S as the Best Driver's Car for 2013 a couple of months ago. At that time, they didnt have the Ferrari F12 and the Corvette Stingray available.

So, they got both those cars and then pitted all 3 in a "Head 2 Head" at the Laguna Seca Raceway. They are using some professional racer, don't know his name and didnt pay attention to his name when they mentioned it. All of the excellent commentary from inside the cabins WHILE lapping the raceway. Lots of info about grip, stability controls, braking, transmission, under/oversteer, ease of driving hard, etc. (for smoothcrim)

All three cars lap the raceway within a second of each other. The Ferrari costs 6 times as much as the Corvette, but who ranks higher as a driver's car according to them, the Corvette or the Ferrari? And which car wins? Watch!

Very good video, one of the best ever.

P.S. OMG the sounds in the video... sexy as hell. And the best sound? Corvette!

they were trying to prove a couple things....

1. that the road surface is good enough to have cars safely driving at high rates of speed. the speed limit on this part of the toll road is 85 mph
2. that the toll gates can take clear pictures of vehicles license plates speeding through the gate trying to skip the toll

it was also a publicity stunt for Hennessy .

over all though i still think it's an amazing car.

All those BMWs and MBs with 450+ hp can top 190 mph or more. But they are always limited to 155 mph. (Although for some years now, you can pay extra and have the limiter removed)

That's why when Jaguar and Vauxhall (UK) come out with their high performance models which can do ~170 mph, they advertise them as "world's fastest sedan" etc.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure nobody said that 200.6 mph was this particular Corvette's top speed. I'd be willing to bet it's top speed is closer to 220, especially since a base Stingray's top speed is 190.

they gave no distance or time info, only a digital readout and a video of the car going fast with police in the video.

I don't doubt the car is fast, but don't act like this hasn't been done before and takes 700 hp to get there.

There's nothing in this article stating that 200 was this car's top speed. Just that it's the first C7 Vette to be recorded topping 200, and that it went 200 on this toll road, and 200 through the toll booth.

i guarantee a stock c7 is traction limited at a track like VIR and can't get out of 2nd in roller coaster or 3rd in hogpen and barely (if at all) breaks 160 at the front straight. nevermind it probably won't have enough brakes to repeatedly bleed off more than 160 by turn 1. the gearing is junk and is for highway mpg and a side effect is they can brag about "top speed"

I read you wanted torque down low... Not low torque... Anyway torque is all the road ever sees so lean to modulate it correctly and maybe short shift if things start to get out of hand...

(300ft lbs at 4000rpm with 4:1 gearing and 400ftlbs at 3000rpm with 3:1 gearing the road is experiencing the Same hp and tq)

Don't blame the car that you don't know how to manage power.
