Izzo has 7 final fours in 23 years at Mich St.

Coach K has 12 in 37 years (and will probably add one this year)

Bennett has 0 in 9 years

Also neither of them lost to a 16 seed in the tourney. So there's that.

they both lost to 15 seeds which is pretty similar. the teams that k and izzo lost with were much more talented than this uva team and were ranked higher in the preseason as well.

the point wasn't to compare the coaches. the point was that even the most successful coaches have had bad losses in the tournmanet. they are a lot older than bennett so we don't know if bennett will end up being better or worse.

K didn't really start winning until about this point in his career for Bennett. (year 11) Izzo had already won a bunch by now. Ill give you an update in 10-15 years.



They lost two tournament games to Izzo who you just explained is a hall of famer with extremely high rate of tournament success. They lost to Florida last year (not bad) and Jim Boeheim's Syracuse team that made the final four. Of course none of those were bad losses.

Earl's flaw is he puts way too much emphasis on the regular season and overall sample size, treating basketball like a statistics problem and not understanding what it's actually like to cheer for a sports team. He wouldn't get as much joy as anyone else out of an NC State natty because he'd be buried in the box score, looking for something that doesn't matter.

So on the last 2 pages we've learned that TreeTwista thinks every single N.C. State-Carolina game ever played is meaningless.

I kind of hate where sports is now where the regular season to some fans doesn't mean anything. Great and all, but hope those sports leagues enjoy their ratings falling and fans no longer buying tickets. Why were you posting about N.C. State basketball the last few months then? If the games don't matter, why are we posting and talking about them?

We were pretty much locked in to an at-large bid for the NCAA tournament, why didn't we just forfeit our game at the ACC tournament then?

Sports literally are a statistics problem. Your flaw is you choose to let exceptions prove your point and act like there’s some degree of magic with sports. I was really conflicted on the Syracuse/Michigan State game. My bracket had MSU winning it all, but Syracuse is an ACC team not named Duke or UNC, and more ACC wins means more money for NC State in the long run. Both have had their own sex abuse scandals, MSU’s being more widespread though, with Cuse’s being a little forgotten as it came out around the same time as the Sandusky stuff at Penn State. I’m starting to not care for Izzo, but really do not like Boeheim and his whining. I can’t wait for all of these HOF coaches to retire as I feel they are feeling entitled. Ultimately though anytime I get to see a favorite’s fans in their home state go down it’s a good day. Hopefully we get to see the same thing in Charlotte today.
