I drank a good bit this weekend, what with Halloween parties and brunch. Several beers on Friday, a few more Saturday morning at a baby shower, and a lot of champagne on Sunday during brunch. Since then, I've been dry. Today is Wednesday, and i doubt I'll have anything to drink until maybe this Saturday.

08/08/2017 AST: 345 , ALT: 591 , I uh had a problem. I was 3 days removed from a 4 day binge. Dr. was very concerned and scheduled another blood test to make sure it was trending downward after abstaining.

I've never had my liver levels tested I don't think. Surprised they don't do it for our annual wellness checks here at work.

The routine blood test where the liver function tests was done was called the "Comprehensive Metabolic Panel".

obligatory "I am not a doctor.":

Unless binge drink you should have nothing to worry about with these liver tests (unless you have some other non-alcohol related liver problem)....

If you binge drink a lot it's worth looking into. A fucked up liver is no way to go out.

Things are changing for the good, and I think that i am going on an alcohol sabbatical for a while. Maybe not abstaining totally, but only drinking on special occasions.
I don't think I'll miss it. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Or maybe your depression causes you to feel like shit. Don't just blame the beer. It's an innocent party in this.

Drybruary starts tomorrow. I do it annually because February is the shortest month of the year, and nothing all that special happens anyway. I usually feel great when it's over, but I also can't wait to hop off that wagon and try to keep it to once a week or so until summer. Going in kinda hard tonight tho.

Since NYE, I have had 2 glasses of wine, a beer, and a whiskey/ginger ale. All have been on occasions where I was drinking socially.

Going to keep this sabbatical going a bit longer. I haven't really missed drinking much. There have been a few nights where I thought it would be nice to grab a beer and watch the game, but I ultimately decided to stay on the couch.

I cut way back after Christmas break. The main way I did that was just by not having it at the damn house. I have quite a bit of liquor but I just don't care for it so it stays in the cabinet.

For January I had a glass of wine on three occasions and probably four beers total. Also abstained from all regular sodas and only had diet sodas or just water. Little better on my eating, but not much of a change, just trying to limit return trips. I haven't done any exercise, but as of right now I've dropped six pounds in one month.

I went for a dry Jan which turned into Feb, and now into March.

But my cannabis habit is up to about $300/mo.

Guy at the bodega recommended I try this Indian beer called King Chakra. Buy two get one free tall boys. Figured what the hell... Been back a few times in the past 3 weeks. It's on the other side of town.... Highly recommend.

Definitely been drinking more since the Rona came around... More active as well so it balances out.

It's been about 2 years since I've consumed any alcohol. It wasn't good for my health anymore. Before then me and my friend Billy Reuben went a little overboard with pandemic drinking. Billy is out of my life now, and good riddance.

It isn't a libation if you drink it.

Frosh says he only accepts the primary dictionary definition of words.

Informal secondary definitions are a definite no-go on Chit Chat shitposts. Do better, RD, plz.

it was somewhat of a figurative libation, technically :333

wiki states:

A libation is a ritual pouring of a liquid, or grains such as rice, as an offering to a deity or spirit, or in memory of the dead.

dictionaries (thus far, with limited research lol) don't seem to mention that, but mention the "informal" usage

so idk

it's close enough

noun
li·?ba·?tion | \ li-'ba-sh?n \
Definition
1a : an act of pouring a liquid as a sacrifice (as to a deity)
//They offered a libation at the temple.
b : a liquid (such as wine) used in a libation
2a : an act or instance of drinking often ceremoniously
//a libation to celebrate their anniversary
b : BEVERAGE
especially : a drink containing alcohol

Before pandemic I mostly cut out alcohol as part of a successful attempt to lose some weight. During that time I realized I mostly didn't miss it, flavored carb water replaced the "flavor" to drink with dinner. Sometimes missed the weekend buzz. During pandemic went back to the well to help numb the misery/boredom of that time. But during/since I think I've leveled up my Dads situation of alcohol quickly causing a headache that will not subside (always had this a tad but manageable in maybe unhealthy ways). So these days I almost never drink but more bc I'm worried about a headache then lack of desire. I would love to be able have a couple bourbons on a Friday night but it's a huge risk of a 12 hr headache, so that kinda sucks.

All in all probably much healthier without.
