Fauci is coming unhinged from all the political attacks against him. He's not talking like a scientist anymore. Yesterday he was using the phrases like "worst nightmare" and "perfect storm" which is not scientific language nor is it true. This virus has a low R0 and a low fatality rate. "Worst nightmare" would be something with a high R0 value and high fatality rate. Like an airborne virus that is as contagious as measles but as deadly as bird flu with the stealthy characteristics of COVID.

American Airlines has forced their workers to “voluntary” leaves of absence to get around not being able to start their layoffs until October. They are giving them like 20% pay or something and they can file for unemployment. So yeah that whole job protection component is working great....

I recently flew across the country on Southwest in order to keep my vacation I had planned. Once it came up in conversation, all the locals would ask how safe is flying right now. Honestly, I was a little on edge, but they are really trying hard to protect passengers. Enforced mask wearing on the plane. They are also leaving every middle seat open. Then you have AA still selling middle seats and asking employees to take voluntary time off. SW may have to do layoffs for the first time in its history.

Almost all local K-12 schools are pivoting to remote instruction for the first six to nine weeks.

Universities are now rolling for in person with distancing. But the UNC System Board has asked for specific plans for 25% and 50% budget cuts. Also they have decided they will be the only ones that can close a campus or pivot to remote instruction. It is not up to the local Chancellors anymore.

Its only a gotcha towards the people who think leaders should wear a mask for no reason just so people can see them wearing a mask. They can understand Fauci not having his mask on in a structured and safe environment so they understand the concept. In this case, no one talks about "setting an example". No one is asking "how many more Americans will die because people who believe in Fauci will have their mask off?". Of course not because that would be ridiculous.

Do you think Fauci is the only person who wants to take his mask off to talk with his brother? If even Fauci wants to take his mask off then, its reasonable to believe that the masses would prefer to not have the mask on. Maybe....masks are less comfortable than no mask and their absence is more than just a political game.

Why aren't cities and states shutting down now? Why are they waiting for hospitals to overfill when its inevitable?
