City comes to the Bridge opening weekend. We know which game will be the NBC slot now.

Better to play City early before they hit their stride.

Maybe... apparently the context that is flowing out now is that the columbian supporters were attacking urugauyan families and they were jumping into defend them.

City just signed Savio. We'll basically have 2 Dokus now. Hopefully Savio can be more effective in the final third than Doku last season.

I am curious as to why Enzo is the only one catching flak from this. There are other European players on the ANT, and England based players at that. It surely wasn't just Enzo singing. What about Mac Allister, Garnacho, Romero, Martinez, Alvarez.

Chelsea opened an investigation, that I am sure will be handled behind closed doors, I am guessing the FA and FIFA are also doing investigations. I know Enzo apologized so I am not sure what their is to investigate, but I am sure there will be a fine and thats it.

Mac Allister has some pretty dumb comments about it, but no evidence of any other player singing. Maybe they were just smart enough to not be filmed.

Breathing a sigh of relief that the KDB deal seems off the table for Al Ittihad. But Ederson is still a Saudi target.

^^Maybe you mean no evidence of Mac Allister singing but Enzo wasn't the only one singing there were a large number singing and it wasn't just Enzo and team officials. Still Enzo was stupid for posting it to social media and I guess that is why he is getting the most blowback.

The are all at minimum stupid and should know better than to take part in that in 2024, not like the lyrics are obtuse, Enzo is just particularly stupid for posting up.

Dang, Celtic is making the Premier League look like a joke. To be fair, they are closer to the start of their season and have more starters in the lineup.

Looks like Pep wants Arsenal to finally surpass us this year.

Arsenal narrowed the gap last year after we let two of our best players in Gundogan and Mahrez leave. Pep's policy is to let unhappy players leave without a fight. Maybe negotiating isn't his strength.

^^Maybe Atletico have to sell players, they thought they had a deal to send us Samu Omorodion but that fell through as terms could not be agreed upon. Now Atletico is trying to add Joao Felix to the deal but it could be complicated as there are players that would have to go. (Sterling)

The reality is with the FFP rules homegrown players are always going to be seen as expendable because they are straight profit.

Gallagher does not fit Maresca's system so despite how good he was last season he was going to be 2nd or 3rd choice for central midfield so if Atletico falls through who knows what happens, he is out of contract next summer so I would expect him to leave on a free and go wherever so I could see him not play at all this season to hurt his value as Spurs really want him.

Fantasy
1. Manchester City
2. Aston Villa
3. Leicester City

Realistic
1. Manchester City - never bet against Pep, haven't you guys learned by now?
2. Arsenal - might finish level on points and miss title only by goal difference
3. Liverpool - I doubt Arne can produce the same magic as Klopp, but he has more talent to work with than Unai Emery does.

I want to see who City replace Alvarez with before I have total confidence in this prediction. They need a decent backup for Haaland in case he picks up a lengthy injury.

The London based Chelsea fans still are bitter about the end of the Abramovich era in which he bought every high dollar marquee player he could. Even he would not be able to do that with the new FFP rules both Domestically and in Europe.

As for the match Chelsea truly didn't play poorly, Haaland was recepient of a lucky flick on by Silva that 9 times out of 10 doesn't happen and he is a world class finisher so he made it count. All of Kovacic's goals are like the one he had.

That said City weren't at their full strength, but Chelsea are still learning a new system under yet another new manager. It will take time for him to find the right lineup for his tactics. Chelsea still have issues at CF/ST and I am not sure they have invested correctly in GK, the rest of the squad should be fine, opening with City with a new manager and a still unsettled squad was never going to be easy.

The Gallagher situation stinks, but its the new reality with the new financial rules, homegrown players are more valuable as transfer bait. He was offered a new contract that was only 3 seasons and he turned it down, and I can completely understand when all these new signings are getting 6-8 year deals. So Chelsea have to sell him or he walks for free next summer.

xG is such a garbage stat

Last week it was Chelsea 1.01 | City 0.77 (per Opta Analyst)

Arsenal and City look like they are definitely the cream of the crop and Liverpool look pretty good as well.

ManU and Chelsea gonna be another long up and down season I suspect. Spurs will go trophyless yet again.

What don't you like about it

Looks like it says Chelsea played slightly better than the result vs City and a little worse than the result against Wolves, do you you disagree? Against Wolves y'all scored some tough goals which is great! And maybe Chelsea just has great finishers. But not many individuals regularly outscore their xg over a full season.

Xg is basically just a more complex fg percentage.

^^^Its just how much the pundits put stock in it. You can use xG and say Team X with the higher xG looked like better team especially if they only saw highlights.

Using Chelsea as I have seen all their PL matches so far. They had chances against City but never looked at getting anything more than a draw. Against Wolves they were slightly down in 1st half but looked far superior in 2nd half, and against Palace they looked like the Chelsea of the last few seasons couldn't finish and put their opponents away.

Also I don't see Everton surviving this season

I think the only place where xG disagrees with you is first half of the Wolves game. Vs City xG was tied, vs palace, Chelsea dominated by xg.

Vs Wolves, xG clearly shows Chelsea creating more chances in the 2nd half but says Wolves had quite a few really good chances in the first.
