course :EC 348
course rating :4 - Awesome
course comments :Material was more interesting compared to the broader micro/macro theory courses.
class :Spring 2002 section 001
grade received :N/A
class rating :4 - Awesome
class comments :4 quizzes, 3 tests, and a cummulative final, no homework however. All testing was by opening book essays designed to apply the material. Attendance enforced, but there was a fair margin prior to grade reduction. No formal textbook, but numerous online readings and two short topic texts.
instructor :Mcelroy
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :Easily the least dry or boring Economics professor I've had. Lectures were interesting, quizzes and exams graded promptly, and maintained useful information on course website.

course :EC 348
course rating :4 - Awesome
course comments :The material was interesting and easy as well. While not in depth, it does have plenty of applications.
class :Fall 2002 section 001
grade received :N/A
class rating :3 - Good
class comments :The class required basically no work outside of class. There was an attendance policy: if you skipped more than three times you had to write an essay. No homework. Tests and quizes were open book.
instructor :Mcelroy
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :While McElroy taught very well, I felt his tests were somewhat subjective. It seemed like studying was futile: either you got it or you didn't, or rather, you knew what he wanted or you didn't. His handwriting was abysmal. However, I must admit, the teacher was very helpful if you approached him.

class comments :McElroy was really interested in students. Class was more about what you learned than what you didn't. Tests gave real world examples that caught your interest. More than just reiterating what you heard class, but still based on course material.

instructor comments :Definately the best professor I had a NC State. This class caused to change my major to Econ. If you need an Econ course, TAKE THIS.

class :Fall 2004 section 001
grade received :B+
class rating :4 - Awesome
class comments :The course readings that went along with this class were very interesting and engaging, as were the lectures. Not a lot of work was required aside from reading the material. Exams and quizzes were comprehensive essay questions, and you were allowed to use your notes to help you answer them.
instructor :Mcelroy
instructor rating :4 - Awesome
instructor comments :One of the best professors I've had at State, and definitely one of the better ones in the Econ department. Very helpful, friendly, and engaging in class. You even get used to reading his sloppy handwriting after a while.
