the 45 turbos are fun.

i just felt like i played terribly and was up 32 buyins after a 48 tournament session.

btw, been forever since i played any mtts or whatever, but the break time being the same time for all tournaments is nice

was able to piss, refill the water pitcher, make a sandwich and feed the dog without missing a hand lol

david...t hat was the 45 man turbo sngs on stars

they were starting at a frequency that i'd set up 8, and be nearly on the same level for all 8, then finish out the batch

i found that if i tried to continuously bring up new ones when i'd bust out i'd get confused, and liked to stay in the same type of range on all of the tables

ie, 2000 chips at 100/200 has a bit different push range than 2000 chips at 15/30, durh, but when making snap decisions i wanted to not have a chance to f it up

[Edited on May 3, 2010 at 9:19 AM. Reason : plus having not 8 tabled in.. well over a year i wanted it to be easy lol]

Yeh my staking group has a nice 8br mansion shack outside of town from like June-July -- so prolly gonna try to make it out for a decent chunk during that time.

i'm prob gonna go with a random studio on the strip (no car), but 8br mansion sounds pretty nice.

for people doing the 45man turbo sngs... what type of roll requirement do you think is sufficient?

like 5 years ago the 20/180s were my bread and butter, but wouldnt have played them lower than 100 buys.

however, idk how i feel about the short field vs. turbo variance effecting br requirements...

basically i play like, twice a month now, but have been straight crushing them.. lol.

but my old mindsets for br management still hold, even though im playing for negligible amounts of money at this point.

i've always heard this

if your playing as a pro and the money in your account is your life line plan on 200BIs

if your goofing around but still somewhat serious 100BIs

and if the money can be reloaded or w/e and it won't affect you 50BI should be fine

as for the normal swings of people i know who play 45 mans for a living -- 100BI swings are pretty common

^^try to figure out where you're profitable and play a bunch of the same games, don't always go for the big MTT win. I've figured out that I'm not a very strong MTT player (this was very easy to figure out), but I absolutely crush the 9 and 18 man SNG's on Full Tilt ($5-$12 range). I just been trying to play as many of those as I can, and mix in a few MTT's every now and then to work on that part of my game. I've managed to build up a pretty nice bank roll (for the relatively low stakes I play).

Leaving sunday for WSOP....

and yeh I know like 10-15 players who constantly play(ed) the 45 mans on stars.
Some of them have ditched them for the 180s and MTTs some still play with an ROI under 10%.

I've played them in the past a little bit, but will probably be avoiding them for now as they are a lot tougher than the 180s/MTTs.

They were nice if I didn't have time for MTTs on a particular day, but if I don't have time for an MTT schedule I'll just play PLO/NL cash on a smaller site w/ rakeback.

So I finally won a MTT...

$5 buy-in, 578 players, got $723 for 1st. I've turned my last buy in of $60 into a little over $1500 grinding sng's and a few mtts over the last 6 wks.

Not chump change, but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. I think he would have a reasonable shot of at least cashing. Full Tilt will automatically buy him into the 2011 Main Event if he cashes. There's all kinds of incentives involved.

^^15%? yeah in a perfectly level playing field maybe. you're forgetting that some of the field will include people like chuck lidell and george costanza. In all seriousness I would put him at 35-40 % odds and would be willing to bet money along those same odds. He's a sick human.

^^ I'm curious as to why you pushed with AK suited considering you had the 2nd biggest chip stack at the table (from that hand you posted further up the page).

Did you overvalue that hand at that moment, or were you trying to steal the blinds and antes or something?

I was in the small blind and I don't like playing hands like that out of position. I put the guy on a marginal hand like A6-A10 and thought I might get a call from him cause he made some really bad plays previously. When he flipped Kq I was even more happy cause I was basically 3 to 1. I'd take that situation all day any day and twice on Sunday.

Plus with the blinds that high, there's not a lot of post flop action, I couldn't afford to c-bet the flop if I missed and have to c/f the turn if he called. I was perfectly willing to take the blinds + his limp and move on to the next hand.

^^I wouldn't go that low on anyone

I'm putting him at ~3 to 1 (35%)

I'm therefore not taking less than 3.5 to 1 (especially since this is a one shot deal) and I'll go max $100 on my side.

66.6666667% + 33.333333% = 100%
33.333333% * 2 = 66.666667%

2:1 payout corresponds to an outcome expectation of 33.333% (assuming fair payout).

Another way of looking at it is "there are 2 units of 33% in 67% and 1 unit of 33% in 33%. added together this equals 100%
