NyM410, I don't necessarily think Romney believes it (but he's a bit of a flip-flopper so who knows)...
But other people in the Republican Party are very clear about it.
And even the flp-floppers on this issue (like Mitt Romney) have shown they really believe "that crap." For example, Rick Perry used to be pro-choice, but he not only experienced a "transformation" or whatever, but he also cut state funding for any clinic that even mentioned abortion to its patients. Obviously, he also declined federal funding for clinics, like Planned Parenthood, but in order to do so, he had to decline federal funding for all women's health programs. He also plans to turn down the coming Medicaid expansion, and the vast majority of Medicaid recipients are women and children.
And that's just one incident in a long series of attacks on women's health and reproductive rights. But, whatever, it's not a real problem. Women in Texas can just keep getting pregnant and going to Mexico for abortion pills:

So Biden is purposefully sandbagging this speech to pump up Obama's, right?
^ I get what you're saying but Romney actually has been pretty consistent on the women's rights issues through his entire political life... until a few months ago. It's obvious he's pandering to the religious folks that he needs to have even the slightest chance to win and won't really try to act on that. I'm OK with that even though I'm probably not voting his way.

i get how the Democrats were blasting Clint Eastwood about addressing Obama while referring to an empty chair, but I don't see how its so different than Kerry talking to Romney when he wasn't there either...Obama wasn't at the RNC and Romney isn't at the DNC...yet its important for both sides to attack the opposition, sometimes by speaking to them directly, even though they're not there 9/6/2012 9:55:30 PM |

There was a pretty good Time magazine article about how in the middle stages of 2009 the trail had gone ice cold on Osama. I think that is one thing Obama can rightfully pimp during this election to be honest. Plenty of other stuff to go after him on but you can't devote 8 years to trumping up the war on terrorism and then also complain when Obama throws it back in your face because he accomplished 1A. 9/6/2012 10:00:22 PM |

I'll be honest I'm voting for romney on strictly economic grounds. I'm not a social conservative and can't stand to watch fox news except for the occasional shep smith show, so I normally watch CNN. But after watching some coverage at the GOP last week and some of the convention in charlotte I can see why fox has locked up the conservative market. Every speech given at the republican convention got blasted and "fact" checked. I hear all kinds of absolutely ridiculous claims here like "the republicans want all women to get cancer, and blah blah blah" and what does CNN fact check: "Mitt Romney wants to raise taxes on families by $2000" and they say it's true. Just ridiculious coverage. 9/6/2012 10:04:42 PM |

To be fair, those "FACT CHECKER" articles were AP articles and almost all of them on both sides have been posted on CNN and Fox News. They do a decent job with those.

He vetoed the emergency contraception bill in Massachusetts in 2005 and took that opportunity to write a letter to the legislature explaining his view and attacking Roe v. Wade. He officially came out as pro-life in 2006.
He has also vowed to eliminate Planned Parenthood, and when he was governor, eliminate Title X funding for family planning, which provided contraceptives and health exams for women. He also said it was a "violation of conscience" to provide women with birth control coverage. If he's talking about his conscience when it comes to being thrifty, okay...but I think he's talking about his conscience with regards to women being protected from pregnancy.9/6/2012 10:14:40 PM |
