i saw them in silver spring last year, and he forgot the words to a song he was playing solo. OOPS.

they closed the show by playing "this land is your land", and the other guys just kept playing, and he kept singing. them and all the AA guys on stage were all cracking up. by the end, they were trying to give him water bottles, but he'd just drink more.

i think he's gonna die soon.

you'd hope he could find help before it got to that. The new tracks from this upcoming album are pretty awesome. I'm really looking forward to it.

Yeah, I bought tickets to the 10/29 show at Lincoln Theater. Just got a little too excited and typed the wrong date on tww...whoops!

I'm still a little butthurt that I missed that show. I bought tickets for the Friday show before they announced opening acts and before they announced the second show with TT. The Black Lillies were good but they're definitely no John fucking Moreland or Turnpike Troubadours.

I've been and thought it was pretty cool. If you eat at the connected restaurant before the show you can get in 15-20 minutes early.

^^^ Saw MBV there years ago. Kind of a weird room, outside smoking area is tiny, but not bad in general.

Out of town for work and I found out Of Montreal is playing within walking distance last night. I'm a casual fan, but really enjoyed their set.

Chatham County Line recently announced a show at the Ritz...kind of a weird place for them to play, but they do sell out the smaller places.

really, really hated missing FJM

In November I am thinking of taking off work and bumming it in NC for a few days for my birthday and attending:

Youth Lagoon, Minus the Bear, No Joy, Copeland, and Deafheaven on continuous nights at Cats Cradle (nov 3-8th).

Anyone attending any of those? That casts a fairly broad net of styles.

Ghost is performing on Colbert on Oct 30. lol. I mean I love Ghost and their new record is hella good. But what a weird pairing. It's almost an insult if they were chosen as a 'halloween' guest.

Have you been watching Colbert? He's making an effort to expose his audience to as wide a variety of art as possible. That's how you have Kendrick and Yo-Yo Ma appearing in the same performance slot weeks apart. Ghost is no different.

yeah i mean i DVRd the kendrick performance and I know he just had beach house. His music has been good so far. But I still thought Ghost was out of left field for me. It's definitely cool that they are keeping a broad reach with the musical acts though. props to them. Interested to see how Ghost performs in that kind of setting.

4 shows in the past 4 nights. It's a tossup between Sufjan and Deafheaven. Two opposite ends of the spectrum and two absolutely fantastic sets.

Copeland was also very, very good. Just overshadowed by two of the most enjoyable shows I've seen in the past couple years.

No Joy was a little disappointing.

John Prine was really good at DPAC last week.

Andrew Jackson Jihad Tuesday at MotorCo.

fell in love with both the singer and the drummer about a dozen different times for completely different reasons

Andrew Jackson Jihad at MotorCo was good. And I was turned onto a new artist that was one of the opening acts, Jeffery Lewis. Apparently he's a comic drawer too, and he had several songs that were accompanied with slide shows. One was about Sitting Bull and one was about the Vietnam War.

bought tix to a few shows last week:

beirut in charlotte (has been solid in my rotation since gulag orkestar 10 years ago but never seen live)
father john misty in charlotte (my favorite album of 2015. never seen live.)
tame impala/m83 at merriweather post pavilion (have seen both before but this is a fantastic double dip and m83 has a new album coming out this year.)

pumped for all!

i, too, copped tix to the tame impala/m83 show. tame impala alone was $40 when they played in DC last year, so this is pretty great.

Pearl Jam tickets are pricey like $68 + fees...is it worth it to see them in PNC? I've heard from multiple people shows there are bad.
