I'm basing it on his career, his athleticism, our roster and all rational thought.

A sixth man who has more fouls in his career than points? I can't stress enough he has a role but I don't understand the thinking that he will improve tenfold over one offseason.

All the nickname and joking bullshit aside, are you seriously telling me you would feel comfortable with him playing 20-25 mins a game even though he's never averaged more than 11 in his career?

From my perspective, he's not there yet. But we haven't seen him too much this year. He *could* theoretically be to the point next year where I don't cringe at him playing a solid 20 minute 6th man position. Not yet, but he could develop to that point.

Damn...NyM is pretty down on Vandy. He's a lot better than the other 7-footer stiffs we've had in the past. We also haven't really seen him play a significant amount of time in well over a year. He improved a lot, IMO, from 2010/11 to what we saw in limited action this year. I don't see why he can't have improve that much, if not more, starting into next year. If TDT does the same thing, then I think they can fill in adequately for Painter.

And Painter wasn't the best inside presence. Vandy will be an improvement on D...and hopefully he can be a force on the boards as well.

I said it earlier...but losing Painter sucks right now. But if Leslie comes back...then its possibly a moot point depending on the improvement of Vandy and TDT. If Leslie comes back and we get Jefferson and possibly Young...then we don't feel this loss at all.

But it's highly unlikely. Painter improved but he was also a big time recruit with athleticism. Vandenberg is what he is. A big guy without the athleticism needed for a high ceiling. I'd love for him to prove me wrong and turn in to even Luke Schensher but I just find that highly unlikely.

^^ well then why did you respond to my post commenting on him as a sixth man. I'm fine with him getting 10 mins a game off the bench or when we have foul trouble, but that's not what people seem to be stating..

I was just pointing out the reailty of our situation: our veteran post sub just left, and we need a replacement. Until Amile/Young commit, all we've got is Vandy.

I'm pretty sure Painter was a highly-rated recruit at some point in high school, maybe top20? Maybe his junior or sophomore year? I seem to recall he was injured and then dropped in the rankings significantly.

The game plays out similar to a game of Bulls vs Blazers on the Super Nintendo where 50% of all possessions end in a shot clock violation after repeated blocked shots.

A sweaty Aussie dances triumphantly to the tune of "I come from a land down under" while playfully mimicking a kangaroo hop at midcourt.

After the game the announcer makes a reference to putting another block on the barbie. Vandenburg who is now the Mandenburg announces that he will do no such thing and shows his disdain for the reporter.

The last image is one of Vandenburg playing a handheld Yahtzee game made by Tiger electronics in the locker room.

I really think he's gonna surprise some people this year. He made a pretty big improvement from his freshman season to his sophomore, and that was with Lowe running things. Now that he's on a real training regiment and had a year to learn the system, I'm expecting decent things.

Harris isn't deciding until after the CJL/Jefferson/Young contraversy ends so we might be waiting a while to find out.
