anyhow now on the new page, I must say I didn't see that diserys killing coming for some reason, I only half watched that scene, I knew he was kind of asking for it but didn't see what he did directly that led to it, and now I wonder if daenerys is going to turn more evil now or what

who's says the dothraki are evil? They're just a different culture...I'd argue that a lot of the 7 Kingdoms is far more evil.

The Dothraki aren't really evil, just more chaotic. Compared to others they are angels.

What about Drogo's speech of conquering the seven kingdoms, raping women, and slaughtering children?

Those women and children deserve it.

I also thought that speech was incredibly badass.

It may have been the first time he threatened the unborn baby but it definitely wasn't the first time he threatened to kill her. Her main thing is that even though Viserys was a complete dick to her all the time, he was all she had left of her homeland and he pretty much raised her himself. On top of that him and her are the last of the Targaryans so she probably wouldn't want her family name to die although I guess technically she's a Drogo now.

this is why people who've read the book need to shut the fuck up.

seriously, let the guys who don't know the story interpret the show however they damn want. i like hearing that viewpoint and want to see the discussion of where they think the story will turn next. we all know what happens and who's evil/not evil. no need to "correct" someone's viewpoint just because you know what will happen in the future.

I'm not sure if you're referring to my comment or not but I was curious as to why he thought she was evil. That's it.

Nothing on this page references anything past the last episode, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

The Dothraki are totally evil. Unless you're some kind of extreme cultural relativist.

It's a religious ceremony where you eat a horse heart. It's not like she's eating a baby or something.

That's not what I'm talking about. The ceremony wasn't evil at all, just kind of gross.

EDIT: Oh the picture was unrelated to my comment, I just posted it because I thought it was funny. Sorry for possible confusion.

The Dothraki are about as evil as the founding fathers of the USA

i think, in the world of game of thrones, trying to judge "good" and "evil" is useless b/c the makers are attempting to draw real people instead of cariacutures; and, like real people, "good" and "evil" are tough to define.

i mean, the prince's bodyguard murdered a young boy b/c he allegedly hit the prince with a stick.

not exactly saintly actions.

Significantly worse than that.

So why don't we judge them against their contemporaries?

They are worse than pretty much every other culture we've seen. Only one that rivals them is Astapor and the other cities on the slavers bay.

this series/story is a lot more complicated than simply figuring out who is the good guy and who is the bad guy.

they are all good and they are all bad. thats why it is so compelling. you dont really know who to root for.

It's funny to me that they just throw random sex in to draw people in.

Still, Episode 7 was awesome. Looking forward to seeing how they finish out this opening series, then I'll read the book.

SPOILER

I'm ready to talk about the end of ep. 7. Shit got CRAZY. I think if Ned Stark wasn't such a pussy and had blown the horn on Cersei and Jamie's incestuous bone storms, or just not backed down like a bitch and started bashing skulls he wouldn't be in this predicament. Can't wait for ep. 8

end spoiler

I agree that Ned brought this stuff on himself and he makes some stupid decisions in the grand scheme of things but I never thought of him as a pussy in any way reading the books. Too much of the opposite imo. I mean he calls Tywin and Gregor out, trys to uphold the rightful succession versus Joffrey as king etc. Stupid moves for him personally and also for all the ripples it causes in the realm, but not being a pussy.

Also glad to see Twyin finally. I was happy with the cast based on the actor and I think he nailed the character so far.

This show has steadily improved each week (and I thought it started quite well). Drogo's speech was awesome. They've also been doing a great job incorporating relevant exposition within the scope of the show, e.g. the scene with Littlefinger and the whores.

I love titties as much as the next guy, but was that scene really necessary? We're working on a tight schedule, people.

Yeah - I think that was kind of the point. They needed to provide background/shed some light on Littlefinger's motivation(s), and if they could package it with tits to appease/entice the common viewer, why not?

I agree with spöokyjon here. The scene was too long imo. Maybe it's just because I read the books so I'm filling in blanks subconsciously, but I feel that the 90% of what he said during his speech there was already shown/revealed to the audience through other parts of the show so far. His relationship with Catelyn, his dual and the resulting scar, his ambitions to obtain power through wit and purse-strings versus physical combat. I mean almost every bit of that was already revealed in the show.

That was what made the scene feel too long against the brothel backdrop. If they were revealing mainly new information then it would make more sense and fit regardless of the amount of boobage. But the fact that they were taking stuff that they already showed us and then saying "hey if you didn't figure it out when we revealed it unobtrusively via good dialogue the first time, we're going to take a step back and hit you over the head with it and just list it all straight out for you," that is what made the scene awkwardly long.

Very good episode but that whole scene was meh. Especially with all the source material they have to work with. My complaint here is similar to Theon's visit with Ros; everything important in their exchange was highlighted other ways in the show so far. I certainly don't mind nudity and gore at all if it has a point and I have generally absolutely loved the adaptation. Just a couple scene choices I haven't agreed with so far and they have usually involved nudity/sex that just didn't serve a great purpose.

I honestly think it was necessary to explain his motivation for betraying Stark despite his promise to Catelyn. I'd like to hear from someone who hasn't read the books on this idea.

he does that in the books alot to, like we will hear the same backstory or something like that 5+ times
but i enjoy this show how many seasons do you think they will get to. Rome only had 2 and i thought that was a badass series so lets hope for at least 3 since they already have 2 on the contract

Well I guess the thing about Rome is that since it was based on history there was only so much they could do with it. It was an amazing show but I was surprised at how far they went after Caesar's death while keeping it good. Since these are all based (closely) on books, it should at least mean that it won't jump the shark.
