Sucks, b/c as soon as that ace hits you know you're done for.
Yeah, Borgata is the only place to stay.

my bartender had a home game last night at 3am (just got back). I was in for 80 pretty quick (cash game first buy-in at 20 and it goes up with the pot [pot/# of players]) I cashed-out with 300, game well played right? but there was a guy really close to having about my chip stack and every time we checked it down to the river he would just go all in ( and he was an asshole in other ways, like counting my chips to comfirm the 300 when he just watched me count them 3 times). In a four dollar pot with 9h Jh Kd, As, 10h he goes all in. I had the Qh 8d two people to act after me and this fucktard going all-in for like 240. I figured either he had the flush or the Q, and didn't feel like taking the risk to win 2 bucks so I folded, as did the guys behind me, and this fucker had K 5 off-suit. So even though I won big I'm still going to constantly thinking "all-in, call" for a few days. 4/22/2007 8:57:58 AM |

just set some traps for him next time

I have been playing heads-up a bit. Generally, I get a lead on whoever I play. But then it seems like they tend to do the all-in preflop or nothing bet. What do you do here? Wait for a pocket pair or an ace?? Honestly most hands preflop are like 50/50 ish, so I really hate risking the lead I've built on a coin flop. 4/23/2007 11:16:52 PM |
NoidRoid All American 7642 Posts user info edit post |
Another way to look at it is that you're just gambling with their chips once the blinds get big and post flop play becomes impractical. Most aces, some kings, and all pairs are usually good enough to call most opponents when they're in push-fold mode.
Also, don't get mad, get even. Push on their big blind with a wide range of hands and force them to pick something up. You're much better off gambling with their chips than letting them whittle away at you with constant all-ins while you're waiting for a good hand. You need to steal back some chips to maintain a chiplead.
Don't expect a huge winrate at heads up sitngos. If you're winning 60% you're doing fine. I've only won 54% of the 291 $100 hu sngs I have recorded and I consider myself a good player. There have been countless times where I've outplayed some guy early and my 5:1 chip advantage didn't win it for me once we got to the push-fold stage, shit happens. I also prefer the turbos because my edge is not very big and I need to play a bunch of them for it to be worth my time.

haha people on .50/1 are such idiots some time. Here's a $275 pot i was just involved in:
I'm was in 9 person .5/1 game for like 15 minutes
dude in first position raises $5
I call with KK hoping to make a move on the flop
dude behind me calls, another guy calls (at this point I was regretting not reraising), and then guy in big blind raise all in to $40
dude who initially raised thought a little and then called
I go all in everyone else folds and action is back to initial raiser
he calls with a little hesitation (he's got like $120 stack)
initial raiser has J-10 suited and the guy who went all in for $40 has 9-10 offsuit
idiots raising + me having KK = profit
I'm going to bed
