Some Trump stock investors have already lost half their money

In fact, anyone who bought Trump Media at the closing high of $66.22 on March 27 has now lost more than half of their money."

High (large?) cap stocks and dividend stocks are not necessarily mutually exclusive. They are two quite different measures, but there is plenty of overlap. Dividend payments are not as tax-efficient as capital gains. Regardless, you can follow this strategy with a mutual fund or ETF for increased diversification, reduced risk, and professional management.

Vanguard High Dividend Yield:
Mutual Fund: VHYAX (https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/mutual-funds/profile/vhyax)
ETF: VYM (https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/etfs/profile/vym)

Vanguard Dividend Appreciation:
Mutual Fund: VDADX (https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/mutual-funds/profile/vdadx)
ETF: VIG (https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/etfs/profile/vig)

Vanguard Dividend Growth Fund:

DJT closed at -14.17% today on announcement of entry into streaming content.

I know I shouldn't take pleasure in the little guy losing money on their "investments", but in this case I make an exception. In addition to the aforementioned "dopes" descriptor, the phrase "suckers and losers" comes to mind for these bag-holders.

And the grift rolls on. . .

Couldn't happen to a nicer group of folks.

^ hey bro know you in the past were big on buying things from government before interest rates went up so you locked in cheaper rate...if you need a loan do you wait til rates fall? Just wondering

I am 95% sure you wrote a big write up on how to game interest rate raises. Will try to find now

[Edited on April 16, 2024 at 9:41 PM. Reason : And wondered if rates going down translated tangentially ]

You might be thinking about Series I Savings Bonds which I think I discussed previously. Not a loan. But generally trying to predict future interest rates and the timing thereof is a loser's game. If you are waiting for rates to drop, in some cases you might be waiting a very long time or the drops might be small and slow. They might even go up more. You always have some protection against falling rates by the ability to refinance the loan at a new lower rate if rates move.

Sounds like savings 1 bonds a sure bet if you know rates going up(like 2022)

Seems like there is an opposite version of that when you know rates will go down(like 2024)

Rates are going down this year. If one can wait til it happens, should one do so?

For example, i could take loan in june, but rates don't fall, so i wait til July. Yet rates still don't fall. Luckily I can keep waiting til like September when rates go down. Isn't that the best course of action?

I am waiting for sometime between now and December for rates to go down

Nothing stopping you from waiting if you want to wait. But they're only expected to drop like a quarter point.

Series I Savings Bonds are linked to inflation rates. That's what the I means. However, the variable rate they pay is linked to a published formula, so when inflation was really running hot, the Series I Savings Bonds were the best game in town for a safe, government-backed investment. Inflation rates got significantly out ahead of Federal Reserve rate changes in an attempt to tamp them down. You can still by Series I Savings Bonds, and they're still pretty good, but not the slam dunk best option in the game that they were a couple years back.

Of course you’d think you’d get better returns somewhere else. The whole point of I bonds is to be a “risk-free”* way to store cash without losing to inflation.

*assuming that the entire US financial system doesn’t completely implode, in which case I bonds would be among the least of our problems.

Plus there are annual purchase limits and early redemption penalties. If part of your strategy is to build a bond ladder, early redemption works against that. But that's not everyone's strategy, and there's nothing wrong with that (NTTAWWT).

I got PERMANENTLY banned from the financial messageboard I used. After three previous suspensions.

I just have to LOL about that. I basically post in the same style as I do here, but with no profanity. I had over 4000 posts there. It's the most innocuous stuff ever.

If you are used to posting on TWW and you actually engage people in discussion, I guess you have no chance to survive there. I commented that someone's post was poorly written (because I read it and couldn't understand it). I commented that someone else was being irrational. Both of those were classified as unacceptable "personal attacks". I made a comment about the Chinese Communist Party and not wanting to invest in Chinese companies. I said fossil fuels were not sustainable. Both of those were classified as divisive political posts. And you better not post any GIFs either.

theDuke866 said it best several pages ago after my second suspension.

Quote :

NO sense of humor or understanding of sarcasm.

But, I'm already plotting my return under an alias I started formulating about a year ago after the second suspension. It's going to be a good one. But got to wait a while to launch it to avoid suspicion. Every suspension makes me less interested in devoting my time there, but now I can't let them win.

Come at me, bros!

TWW is a blog.
