We can lock up the division this weekend if one of two scenarios occurs:

Scenario A: Louisville loses to Dook tonight AND we beat Clemson on Saturday.

Scenario B: Louisville beats Dook, but Lamar Jackson gets injured, AND we beat Clemson on Saturday.

I know we're all joking around because no way we even get to this point, but if Louisville beats us then won't it be a 3-way tie? And if I remember correctly, the BCS ranking is the final tie-breaker. Since these two have been top-10 most of the season I doubt we get to move on.

It won't matter anyway. Because watch us beat Clemson and then lose to BC, or worse, UNC, to ruin our chances. We essentially keep the ACC from making the playoff while getting nowhere ourselves.

yeah i just noticed louisville has the schedule gift wrapped with duke and uva as their coast opponents.

we have to win the next 2 games to wrap up the division. beating clemson gets us nowhere if we lose to louisville.

. Reason : we still have to play 5 ranked teams so we would be ranked ahead if we all had the same record

^Not necessarily. If we beat Clemson, they will likely drop in the rankings below Louisville, who they beat, and we might break into the 20's but not anywhere close to catch up. If we keep winning, we keep going up, but I don't think we'd ever pass Clemson if they don't lose any more either.

Because WHEN you lose seems to have more effect on the rankings then how you lose. Our loss would be the last, so we'd end up underneath. Plus the ECU loss means we won't be above a 1-loss Clemson or Louisville.

we need to leave the conference because any way you cut it the odds are going to be stacked against us. It looks like UNC is a solid program to stay which means we will always have one additional hard game than everyone else in the division. Theres no way FSU Clemson and Louisville will all have down years at the same time. Its not a joke when we say we have to be national title worthy just to win our division.

On a serious note, looking at future schedules, I think UNC will win the Coastal in 2020 if all the teams remain at their current competitive level. One tough road game at Miami, but Pitt/GT/VT/NCSU all at home. Other road games at BC/UVA/Duke.

What the hell is wrong with this team?

Great drive then we get 3 false starts to knock us out of field goal range. Then on 2nd and 20 we refuse to use a high percentage play to get us yardage. So the defense is geared for a run on 3rd down so we get nothing. We know our kicker can't hit from 43 yards and we have a drive where we absolutely HAVE TO GET POINTS.

THREE FALSE STARTS. And borderline retarded play calling once it's 2nd and 20 and we realize we are strictly playing for a field goal at this point.

2nd and 20 is the time to run the draw or the bubble screen or whatever is gonna get us yardage. The chances of our noodle arm qb throwing back to back 11 yard outs is nearly ZERO. THE chances of hitting a ~45 yard FG is too low to justify these decisions.

This coaching staff sucks. They don't try to get points. They didn't vs ecu and it cost us the game. They didn't at notre Dame and it took a miracle for us to win. And now they aren't gonna try against Clemson? We aren't winning this game 48-41. We need to try to score when the opportunity presents itself and hope to win like 23-20
