buy it before the sale then call up customer service once the sale is taking place (or 21 days within purchase)

this is how i guaranteed myself a touchpad from the first fire sale, i bought it the second they announced the sale was going to take place (paid full price) and then just called up customer service and gave them the info to reduce the price down

And to be fair, no tablet should be judged based on Gingerbread or Honeycomb. Gingerbread was never made for tablets, and Honeycomb was more like a beta-product for tablets (hence ^ why Honeycomb source was never released by Google). Hold judgement until CM9 (ICS port) or buy a legit Tegra 3 tablet with ICS on it
