Seemed out of character with Chalky. I feel like he would never have worked for Narcisse and would have shot him right then and there, even if it meant getting killed by his men. Did it ever explain why Chalky was in jail to begin with? 10/14/2014 12:05:38 AM |

I agree, it seemed out of character for Chalky seven years ago, but not now. From the early scenes on the chain gang to his brief conversation with Nucky, he really seemed like a man with nothing else to really live for other than that "voice in his head, putting him to sleep at night", and making her and that right. Chalky knew he was going die if he went to Harlem. Nucky knew it to. But he wanted to "try" and help Daughter out and the only way to do that was sort of going along with Narcisse. What made it a homerun to do what he did was when we saw that he had a daughter. Given his confrontation earlier in the season at the house with the mother/daughter and also his tragedy of 7 years ago, I get what we did. Great ending to a great character.10/14/2014 7:26:06 AM |

Nelson was so close! He could totally have killed Capone! He had his gun and everything! Obviously they wanna keep the show historically accurate but for a second there I thought he was gonna do it. 10/14/2014 9:00:09 AM |

One can see the bow getting tied up nicely now that Nucky doesn't have to worry about a criminal empire anymore. Capone will go to jail, the Commission will be formed, and Nucky will retire and die in an old folk's home. 10/20/2014 12:55:35 PM |

yep, this should tie up nicely. Wish it had some more focus on WW2 coming up.

But to what end? If he wanted revenge or something he had plenty of opportunity by now. The kid kinda looks like Darmondy but I'm not seeing it happen in the last episode.
Although maybe with the focus on Gillian maybe that is where it's headed.....10/21/2014 11:54:53 AM |

So much for my theory that Tommy Darmody was young Don Draper. 10/28/2014 7:23:35 PM |

I've always enjoyed Boardwalk more because it looked good, than it actually being good. Solid show, but it had a lead character that wasn't the most interesting character on the show and kept characters around way too long past when they were last interesting/useful. Ending felt rushed & kind of predictable. 10/29/2014 12:07:44 PM |

Disappointed in the finale and this season . The entire show before this was awesome and really delivered. This season definitely felt rushed though. They killed off too many characters too quickly. I'm not too bothered by Nucky dying at the end, I figured he wouldn't make it but I don't like it that Luciano "won" in the end. I guess that is how history actually was but didn't the real life Enoch Thompson live until like the 1960s or something?
One thing I think they did well was how they handled Capone's downfall, right down to the white suit and giant cigar.
Also wtf Commodore. I always figured he just liked young Jillian, I didn't actually think he was a full fledged pedo. 10/29/2014 4:35:07 PM |

I was pretty pissed about the way Nucky left the biz as well, really annoying that those shitheads "won" as was mentioned above. And if they're not going to be historically accurate then I don't know why they didn't give us something, like taking out one of Luciano's buddies.
Still fairly decent series finale. Was a neat and tidy ending...but I think Nuck getting killed was BS. 10/30/2014 9:07:21 AM |

^^Until this season all we knew about the Commodore/Jillian issue was that he knocked her up when she was 13 and that Nucky "delivered" her to him. In the previous season when the Commodore tried to take his power back from Nucky, Jillian was involved with him and the Commodore was obviously still very much into her. I had just figured that something about Jillian (even at the very young age) really got the Commodore going.
Sidenote: The actress that played young Jillian -- although she didn't exactly look spot on, her voice and enunciation were a perfect match. 10/30/2014 9:47:27 AM |

How many times does someone have to rape a 13 yr old for you to consider them a pedo?
For me it's a max of once but that is just my opinion
[Edited on October 30, 2014 at 12:37 PM. Reason : Max as in could be lower than once. ] 10/30/2014 12:36:45 PM |

I realize I'm talking to myself here, but I just started season 4, and Chalky has been my favorite character, and I'm really glad to see that something good is happening to him. At least to someone in this show. It's just so damned dark. 4/25/2017 10:55:38 AM |

Chalky's one of the best characters on the show, pretty damn funny and has you cheering for him. The show all together is definitely worth watching in it's entirety 4/30/2017 2:55:13 AM |
