I'm a little concerned that this is going to be more in line with Grand Theft Auto in that you're a bad guy doing nothing but bad guy things. At least in part one, there was actually some redemption to the plot - you were a bad guy looking for bad guys.

I'm passing on this one, at least for now. I think I might pick up Assassin's Creed Odyssey instead. Not excited about GTA in the west. Why even call it Red Dead Redemption? Sounds like there is no redemption here, just robbing shit and killing people.

Perhaps I'm wrong, we'll see.

Did we know what the redemption was all about in the first game when it came out? This campaign has over 80 missions for the main storyline. I'm sure it's a lot more than robbing banks and killing people.



Hell, the last half of the missions in the first game were just "go here, shoot a bunch of people, "oh no, Dutch Van Der Linde is in another castle!""

I game on PC but was thinking of picking up a PS4 on black friday for this game and in anticipation of Last of Us 2.

A good friend of mine says the controls and shitty fast travel system make the game unplayable but I'm not sure if he's just being dramatic.

I'm about 10 hours into it, and honestly Spiderman and God of War gave me way more enjoyment than RDR2 does.

The amount of realism they've built in is astounding, it really is a technical achievement. But I think they spent too much time on that and not enough on making the game really fun.

For example, you need to wear clothes appropriate for the weather you are in or your stats suffer. So if you plan to ride to a cold area from a warmer area, you need to put heavier clothes in your saddlebags so you can change into those clothes when you arrive. That kind of micromanagement detracts from the game in my opinion.

It just feels a lot like a more choose your own adventure version of the classic Dragon's Lair arcade games, where you watch a bunch of cinematics and press the correct buttons at the right times, and sometimes get to wander the map to pick different missions or sell/buy things.
