440 hp Litchfield Supra vs. Mustang GT (450 hp)
Drag race Rolling race Brake test
If it takes only about a grand or two to get that ECU upgrade for the Supra, I don't see why any Supra owner wouldn't!
I suppose it would void the warranty. 10/26/2019 8:15:42 AM |

umm 65k car vs 40k car?
slap a blower on the mustang... re run comparison.
nice...
i know the zupra is door to door with the shelby pulling inches till it shifts and then it notches back then i shift and lose more ground because i did the shifting myself.
TLDR gt350 is faster in the rpm range the zupra doesn't have. 10/26/2019 3:24:09 PM |

cars can be compared by cost or by power/performance.
in the end, what i posted doesn't really matter.
but the comparison they did is valid considering power levels.
wait, i didn't post a link at the top of the page? i swear i did

Can't you buy a 700hp Mustang from a dealership with a warranty for under $50k? 10/28/2019 8:31:53 AM |

^^ Dealers can just modify cars... that's cool! But the brakes, transmission, and other internals are the same. Can they handle the extra power?

Why do you say it looks nice (now)? This car's been out for a while, just not for the US.
I'm very surprised they're selling the 4 cylinder version in the US. 1/15/2020 9:54:41 AM |

where did they source the 4? if it's as stout as the 6, you could make a lot of power in a much lighter package with a much lower entry fee 1/15/2020 3:39:41 PM |

^^ I meant the one in the pics, which is a limited "Fuji Speedway" edition, looks really nice with the color combination inside and outside.
Hmmm... even the URL says it is for Europe. I don't think they would sell it in the US as it would eat into the BRZ/86 sales perhaps, but it remains to be seen what the future holds.
^ Good question. Not that I have searched, but I haven't seen an engine code yet. Seems like it is a new turbocharged 2 liter engine? 1/15/2020 6:40:06 PM |

Something coming Feb 13 at the Daytona 500.
Most probably a 4-cyl version for the US, which Toyota initially said won't be sold in the US.
But I am going to dream it is the hotter GRMN version, rather than a less powerful one 2/11/2020 4:20:57 AM |

^^^^ AND it’s for the real-deal 3.0 version, not the half-ass, save your money and just get a TRD-tweaked GR86 4-cyl Supra..
Im not really a Supra fan, starting with them not delivering with the styling after the incredible concept version, and then the whole torque-converter automatic only thing…and then the fact that I’d rather either spend less and get a superior SS 1LE, or spend more and get a way superior C8 Z51…but I’m glad the Supra exists, it has a place, and I’m ultimately on team sports car…and this is a step in the right direction.

I'm always for "more" sports cars. Just because one isn't as fast or cheaper than another doesn't mean there's no reason for its existence.
Duke, also keep in mind the FT-1 concept was really big. Way too large dimensionally.
And sadly, right now, with supply chain issues, it's close to impossible to order a new car to your liking, ANY new car. One of the main Toyota dealerships in Raleigh still hasn't taken delivery of a single GR86, and that car has been on sale and in production since December.

I never knew that. Yeah it was basically Vette-sized.
Not that it’s important—the important thing is that the production one is a letdown.
But like you said, I’m glad it exists. I would just never buy one. 5/5/2022 10:07:25 PM |
