I thought there was quite a bit of good in that show, especially when Bachman had to sell his shares, or parts of them, to do a pay out.

I do think they're setting the stage for the launch to be a failure. Richard's comment that "one more public failure and we're doomed" seems like foreshadowing.

I'd be happy if it weren't a total failure because I'd like to see the show develop past roadblocks, which has been discussed on here a few times, but I'm just not confident that is the direction.

I had the same thought about the interface being crap but the Gavin scene in which he rants and raves made me think differently. This could be a plot device for the show to bring in UX designers as another element, which so far has been something ignored, unless you count the box episode with that asian guy.

yeah that would make sense.

early in the episode richard said something like "i swear i deleted this file and it's still is showing up, but i know i won't be able to get it to repeat that". maybe it was just a line about how nervous he was about the beta, but my initial thought was that that would be some hidden bug or something that is gonna fuck their program. but it was never mentioned again, so maybe i was harping on that a bit too much.

regardless of what goes wrong, i think we all are definitely expecting the launch to fail.

People I work with get crazy about db query optimization but I couldn't give a fuck less. It needs to look good. Yea, I'm cool. I bet in Silicon Valley there is a class of high paid people who give interface advice for plebeian use.

this show has so much potential but the whole brink of disaster and then blind luck thing every episode is getting old. Richard doesn't act like a guy that's invested years of time and energy into a company that could potentially earn him enough to be set for life. He's ready to give up at any kind of obstacle but also whines when he's not CEO. and his friends who have just as much at stake basically don't care either (besides Jared).

I just hated how heavy-handed it was all episode that they'd end up buying Pied Piper.

So I guess now we'll see them shift and focus on the video chat and use that to get footing before investing more in the platform?

Also...was it just me or did it sound like Bachman was pitching to change the name from "Pied Piper" to "Big Head"? It sounded more like the name of the company than him actually trying to get Bighetti's attention. Would kind of make sense for the name of the video chat.

^Honestly, I think that's a really good question worth considering.

I mean, it has been the premise for the first three seasons. They rise... they shoot themselves in the dick... they fall... and they miraculously end up back where they started, but still with a sense of hope. It's a formula that works because this show is funny and one could see the plot as just a vehicle to bring the jokes.

But there's that little inspiring music that this show likes to play to hint that there's something bigger here. And, so far, the show hasn't really delivered that. Again, Mike Judge and co. don't have to deliver that to have a good sitcom, but I feel like they want to deliver that, and they just keep false starting.

As Russ might tell you, it's like they are fucking this girl, and they're so good at fucking this girl that they just keep doing it. I mean both parties cum every time and it's just god damn great. But deep down they really want to fuck a dude too. The girl is nice, but it's this guy that is going to result in sexual transcendence.

But every time they dive in and get naked with the dude they just cum way too early and then wash up quickly and leave like it never happened. But they keep the guy's number and deep down you know they want to fuck this dude's ass so hard, they just don't know quite how to approach it.

While I like this show, it's the same formula as Entourage.
