lil douche with a fast car early almost always means he or his crew will somehow fuck it up and he will end up pissed and throwing a temper tantrum. can't wait to see how it goes down.

Wanted Castroneves to win late. But Honda dominated the month and race, in spite of 3 blowups they had enough guys up there to ensure one came first. Sure Sato winning makes Parent Honda happy. He almost won in 2011 bit crashed last lap trying to make a pass for the win.

Nasty accident for Dixon. Grateful he was okay.

Oh, and my wife won the family pool drawing Sato. Woo! $40 richer!

Monaco was Monaco.

^^dude needs to learn how to lose a race and not be an asshole about it, but, in his defense, the media asks some really pointless questions. it's 1 am and he just drove 600 miles to finish second to a dude gambling on fuel mileage. i understand the frustration with the question.

overall, though, he drove a 2nd place car to a 2nd place finish. if Truex hadn't shot his wad trying to chase down the 48 and 3, he would've won easy. he had the best car.

Live Webcam of the Baja 500 right now. Robby Gordon, Justin Lofton, and some other former NASCAR driver are out in the desert somewhere right now. They have some drone cams that catch some footage every now and then.

i listened to his frequency a lot when the truck series ran that race at rockingham a few years ago. one of the calmest, most level-headed drivers i've ever listened to.

Went to the opening night of Indiana Midget Week last night in Montpelier, Indiana. Unbeknownst to me, Kyle Larson was one of the 41 that showed up. Set the track record in qualifying and finished 3rd in the feature.

He'll run Gas City tonight before heading to Pocono for his Cup duties. It'll be livestreamed on SpeedShiftTV.com.

Roush are shutting down Bubba's Xfinity Series car after Pocono due to lack of sponsorship. He's 4th in points.

That team has become a disaster in recent years.

They made a good point at Trackforum. Wallace's salary was covered by NASCAR's diversity program for Roush, so RPM are getting a free driver.

(That said, I can't imagine Regan Smith was breaking the bank.)

Definitely a tryout for 2018 though. If not for RPM, then perhaps for Roush. I think if he shows well - which based on his time in Xfinity Series, he should, he's not Stephen Wallace - he'll probably get something, even if it's a kind of Front Row Motorsports a la Chad Buescher. Although sponsors didn't come running for the Xfinity Series obviously, I think in Cup the pursestrings will be looser. Like Danica, it's in NASCAR's interest that he succeeds.

^texas indy was cluster last night. tony kanaan was doing his best jeff andretti impression. he was all over the damn track, you dont know where the hell he's goin. then because they didnt test the tires enough they decided they had to do surprise 30 lap stages. but wait there's more, Sato kamikazed the grass and race ends under yellow

busch race was really good with 3 way battle on last lap

I don't know, but I like how FS1 cut off the last 45 minutes to an hour of live drag racing to show an hour and a half pre-race show for NASCAR!

live sports > greater than 2 hour pre-event talk shows.

I'm sure they have contractual obligations to meet. Nobody watches the NHRA anyway. The whole damn event is one long talk show with maybe a minute or two of actual action.

^1.8 million people will disagree with you. There was no reason they couldn't have shown the final hour live on the foxgo app. ESPN used to show every NHRA event live on espn3 and then a tape delayed show on ESPN2 at 9 pm. Fox is showing the entire 24 Hours of LeMans this weekend, but there is a 2 hour gap in there where it will only be on foxgo. The same needs to be done with the NHRA.

^Anyway, 1.18 million for a tape delayed sporting event is pretty good at a time when attendance for motor sports is going down.

honestly, that number is surprisingly high considering how little actually happens in an hour of NHRA coverage

It's no different than football. IIRC, live play in a football game is roughly 11 minutes over 4 quarters. The rest is just timeouts, standing in the huddle, etc.

^They actually are. A lot of people are dropping cable, so less people have the ESPN, NBC, and Fox sports networks. On top of that, for some reason people became less interested in motor sports.

^^Yes, I've been following the IMSA and WEC this season. The Ford GT's didn't do so well. Hand/Muller won't be repeating since they start 12th out of 13. The four Ford's start 5, 8, 9, and 12 out of 13 in LM GTE Pro. I can't find the article back, but I read the WEC monitors how well you do from race to race by using some sort of math equation. Ford did really well last year at Le Mans and is doing well in the WEC this season, so the FIA did a bunch of modifications to them to slow them down while also changing some things on some other cars to make them faster. Sounds pretty fucked up to me.

^ It's not fucked up, that's just how sportscar racing works. Plus, you're dealing with the French, they've always been subjective on car homologation.

^Well hopefully the competition has some mechanical problems, so Ford can get at least one into the top 3. There were rumors that they may have been sand bagging a little bit, but I doubt they would have done that in qualifying.
